Postdoc in Computational design of disordered crystalline materials (2024-224-06155)
At Aalborg University, Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, a two-year Postdoc position is available. The Postdoc position is open for appointment from March 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Jobbeskrivelse
A postdoc position in computational materials chemistry is available to design sustainable materials with tailored disorder using computational chemistry and machine learning. Disorder in crystalline materials is often responsible for improved materials performance, but it is commonly overlooked in computational materials design. In this project, we will focus on modelling the effects of compositional and structural disorder on materials properties using first principles and machine learning methods. The project is highly flexible and can be tailored to the specific skills and interests of the candidate.
Topics of interest include development of data-driven methods for finite temperature property prediction, disorder modelling with cluster expansion methods, and simulations of order-disorder phase transitions with machine learning force fields. The target application area is sustainable materials for energy conversion and storage. This can include both inorganic and hybrid organic-inorganic materials with applications such as solid-state electrolytes and ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials. The cover letter should indicate the specific area of interest.
The prospective candidate will be responsible for planning, conducting, and disseminating high-quality computational research in collaboration with other team members, and is expected to take a role in providing guidance to PhD, masters, and bachelor students. The postdoc will be part of the computational materials chemistry group led by Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Kasper Tolborg, within the Section of Disordered Materials, which offers state-of-the-art computational and experimental infrastructure and facilitates a dynamic work environment and interdisciplinary collaborations.
All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their personal background. We value diversity and see it as a strength.
You may obtain further information about the project from Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Kasper Tolborg,[email protected]
