The Department of Computer Science at The Technical Faculty of IT and Design invites applications for one or more positions as assistant professor as per 15th August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a 3-year fixed term full-time position.

We are inviting applicants in all areas of computer science. The Department of Computer Science has the following research groups: Automated System Verification and Validation; Data Engineering, Science, and Systems ;Distributed Sustainable Software and Systems; Formal Methods for Security and Privacy; Foundations for Interacting and Computing Systems; Human Augmentation and Collaboration; Natural Language Processing; Physical and Embodied Interaction; Probabilistic and Symbolic AI; Quantum Systems Analysis and Synthesis; Systems Design & Development Practices; Web Science and Engineering

The place of work can either be at the Aalborg Campus or the Copenhagen Campus. It is therefore essential that you notify the preferred workplace in your application.

Qualification requirements
Appointment as assistant professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.

Your work tasks
As assistant professor of computer science your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching. You will teach and supervise students at bachelor's and master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of the international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Independent research of the highest international quality, including publication
  • Teaching, guidance and examination of bachelor's and master's degree students, as well as possible supervision of PhD students.
  • Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.

You will report to the Head of Department Peter Axel Nielsen.

Your competencies
You have independent research-related qualifications at international level and a PhD degree in computer science or a related field. You are a clear communicator, and you have some degree of experience of supervision and teaching at bachelor's and master's degree level. Completed pedagogical courses in supervision or similar will be a plus, as will experience with external research collaborations. We also draw attention to a stay or employment at one or more internationally recognised research institutions.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.

We expect you to be able to write and speak English at the academic level.
