Job position in FPGA design / signal processing. ProTelevision is looking for a development engineer for FPGA development in VHDL. We offer a position in our professional and international development team. The employment is with ProTelevision in Rødovre with immediate accession.

The offer
ProTelevision is part of the Italian-owned Elenos Group (branches in Denmark, Italy and the USA). Elenos operates in the communications industry with a focus on professional transmission equipment, primarily in radio and TV broadcasting.

As the market for professional transmission equipment is quite demanding and competitive, a high level of technical competence is required; for example, we possess strong competencies in the following areas:

  • Mechanical design (heat and liquid flow calculations / analyzes / simulations, . . . )
  • Digital hardware design (multi-layer printed circuit boards, high-speed buses, switching power supplies, . . . )
  • Analog hardware design (RF power amplifiers, filters, splitters, combiners, . . . )
  • Software design (embedded linux (driver), hard real-time programming, distributed systems, . . . )
  • Digital signal processing (DSP, FPGA, linear and non-linear algorithms, error correction, . . . )

We want to expand our capacity in the signal processing group with an engineer who has experience in general signal processing and in particular algorithm development and implementation in FPGA.

Profile
We are looking for an engineer with an education at university level and a background in signal processing. The specific algorithms are often designed in dialogue with colleagues. A good understanding of mathematics and physics is an advantage (preferably experience in Matlab / Octave). The most important competence, however, is to be able to work independently in the actual implementation phase. Therefore, a candidate with 2+ years of experience in VHDL and tools (Altera Quartus, Linux – primarily command line and Modelsim) is preferred. Our firmware is oriented towards modularity and reuse; we use git with submodules for version control (hence text files, no schematic). Most often, a signal processing algorithm is split between different processing devices (ARM / Linux – eg IP related, DSP – eg linear and dynamic signal processing and FPGA – eg bit processing, error correction codes and optimized high speed signal processing). Therefore, knowledge of DMA architectures as well as bus arbitration is relevant (Linux knowledge is welcome).
