Job description
For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking Integration and Verification (I&V) Engineers to contribute to the EUMETSAT and COPERNICUS missions.

The scope of this initial task is to provide S3 PDP related support to the Sentinel-3 GSv2 Integration, Verification and Validation (IVV) activities, using the CFIs provided by EUMETSAT (including the specification of the operational HW infrastructure) to achieve the required functionality specified in [S3GSRD] and [PDPSRD]. It is the responsibility of the contractor to support the IVV activities of the S3 GSv2 from PDP point of view, taking into consideration the specifics of all the CFIs and to demonstrate the functional capabilities of the systems through a system IVV process.

In relation to the CFIs, the Contractor shall perform characterization (for acceptance) when supplied by EUMETSAT. This shall allow the Contractor together with EUMETSAT to decide if the characterization performed allows the integration of the provided CFI version in the S3 GSv2.

Sentinel-3 mission is a Low Earth Orbiting operational mission providing fast revisit land and ocean monitoring on a global basis, aimed at providing continuity of data for user services in response to the mission objectives and user requirements.

Responsibilities
The general tasks in System I&V area:

• Service Management: activities related to the planning and coordination of I&V tasks;
• Engineering Activities for the I&V: focused mainly in the preparation and contribution to the technical documentation related to I&V activities (VCDs, engineering and I&V plans, test specifications, test procedures, …);
• Execution of Integration and Verification Activities: performing the corresponding integration and verification testing campaigns according to the agreed plans;
• Contribution to Validation Activities: support EUMETSAT on the validation of systems when performing the corresponding validation test campaigns.

The typical Engineering activities under this task shall cover (but not be limited to) the following:

• Verification Control: for the requirements to be verified by test propose/define the testing activities. Ensure the scope is in line with the expected versions and that the testing activities can be scheduled within the foreseen timeframe.
• Observing and analysis of I&V tests run at segment and/or sub-segment level.
• Writing of integration and verification test specifications.
• Identification of test tools and test data needed (and plan any necessary development of test tools and the tuning/modification of test data).
• Based on initial test specifications and other relevant documents (lower-level test docs, user manuals, etc), write detailed test procedures.
• By successive iterations, refine the test procedures until they are in a status ready to be executed.
• Set up the test tools and refine the test data.
• Automatizing the test procedures for integration in automatic (non-regression) test-suites.
• Maintenance of automated test suites.
• Analysis of problems and management of anomalies.
• Contribute to or prepare the I&V plans. Support the EUMETSAT team during the project reviews in relation to the I&V documentation (plans, VCD, RTS,etc.).
• Scheduling and executing of all the integration and verification activities in close coordination with EUMETSAT, including requesting use of common resources (such as MMEs).
• Ensuring sufficiently in advance of execution that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or set-up as necessary.
• Organizing and holding, under the direction of EUMETSAT, the corresponding
• Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), in which the readiness of all required elements to perform a specific set of ground segment activities will be checked, any constraint dealt with and the final arrangements for the execution of the tests taken.
• Performing the integration and verification activities and testing according to the plans (automated or manual), procedures and arrangements taken in the relevant readiness review, undertaking any required analysis of the results/issues and recording the outcome in relevant reports, and anomaly reports where necessary.
• Organizing and holding in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer (TO) Test Review Board meetings in which completion of the integration and verification activities will be assessed.
• Maintaining the relevant VCD and recording the results of the tests in DOORS and VERDI.
• Supporting Anomaly Review Board (ARB) meetings (if applicable);
• Liaising with EUMETSAT teams and development contractors for technical issues related to the utilization of the facilities, the communication of anomalies, the follow-up of their resolution and installation of patches or new releases.

This is a full-time position to be located at EUMETSAT’s premises in Darmstadt, Germany, to start as soon as possible.

Qualifications & Competencies
In addition to having a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an institution of higher education you shall meet the following requirements:

Technical mandatory skills:

• Proven ability in I&V of complex systems
• Requirements and verification management

• Formal testing at component, facility, and system level

• Creation of suitable test cases, documentation, and their execution

Experience with at least two of the following technical skills:

• Experience in benchmarking and stress testing
• Structured software development and verification
• Software maintenance, performance monitoring
• ECSS standards
• Experience in operational environments under strict change control
• Configuration control
• Known applications on Near real-time, Earth observation data processing, archiving and distribution
• Automated Testing
• Requirements and verification management using DOORS and VERDI
• Scripting languages in a Linux environment
• Programming languages: C/C++, Java, Javascript, XML, Perl, Tcl/Tk
• Operating systems: UNIX/Linux and Windows
• Relational databases: MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL
• Networking: Internet protocols, TCP/IP programming, network monitoring
