R&D Scientist

In this position you will play an important role in development of new technologies for coating characterization based on electrochemical techniques. You will supply towards development of novel, more efficient and digitized coating testing methods to shorten product development cycles. Therefore, we are looking for a dedicated person with scientific curiosity and data analysis experience to initiate and run research projects in this area.

Here’s some of the other things you can look forward to
In this role you will be able to use your material science and data analysis background to drive ambitious research projects and keep expanding your expertise on a regular basis. Technical projects will be revolving around fundamental understanding of corrosion protection using coatings and applying various sensing technologies to develop novel tools to evaluate and supervise coating performance. In this role you will be collaborating with our internal and external partners on a regular basis.

Your task will be to:

• Design, plan, implement and report research projects using existing and new knowledge
• Perform all required research and experimental work in the lab in order to meet the objectives of the projects
• Use analytical, statistical and programming skills to collect, analyze and interpret large datasets
• Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) principles in the projects, analyze and derive conclusions from experimental data
• Communicate new findings and knowledge generated in research projects both in verbal and written format
• Follow all guidelines and Group procedures regarding Health, Safety and Environment
• Ensure that high standards of safety and 6S are maintained in Hempel facilities

You will be joining a dedicated team of Technology Centres, R&D based in Copenhagen and Barcelona.

In your approach to your work, you are well-organized, structured and proactive and with you analytical skills and critical thinking you come quick to a solution. That comes with a positive demeanor and genuine care for the people around you without losing the focus on the end goal of our projects.

Moreover you have:

• Engineering education (MSc or PhD)
• Experience working in a laboratory is essential
• Knowledge of electrochemistry and material characterization would be a strong advantage
• Programming skills (Python, Matlab) would be a strong advantage
• Mathematical and statistical background to be able to apply DoE principles would be an advantage
• Solid English skills both verbal as well as in written
