The job
The primary responsibility of a system engineer focused on middleware/IT infrastructure is to develop and maintain the physical IT systems the customers solution is utilizing.

In our Command & Control organization are we very busy with several new and extremely exciting projects, which means that we are looking for several new middleware/infrastructure engineering colleagues to come and join us at our office in Lystrup, Aarhus.
You will be supporting one of the following projects, depending on preference, experience and demand:

• Military intelligence software platform for the Danish Defense
• Air defense system for the Danish Defense
• Artificial intelligence enabled intelligence exploitation for NATO
• Systems for critical infrastructure protection

Role and responsibilities
Working as a System Engineer at Terma means that you will work with the entire value chain, from understanding customer needs to integration of solutions at the customer and be responsible for requirement management, as well as function as a domain knowledge expert over time.

You will have a wide range of interfaces and close cooperation with other project participants, counting among other System Engineers, Software Engineers, Testers, and Project Managers for the entire project. Over time you will gain increasing responsibility of the overall product functionality and performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• To understand the situation of a customer and their needs, as well as the written and verbal communication, enabling you to transform this knowledge into a technical solution.
• System integration – COTS hardware (servers, workstations and switches), hypervisor, COTS SW and Terma developed SW.
• Development of automatic provisioning and configuration (infrastructure as code).
• Produce the needed documentation to repeat the system integration (for installing multiple similar systems).
• Maintenance of development systems and reference systems at Terma (a reference system is a copy of a system at the customer).
• To be an important sparring partner for your colleagues in and outside the team.

You will also:

• Participate in test activities necessary to ensure system and project delivery – including tests at the customer site (in Denmark, or a NATO country).
• Participate in the team alignment events like planning, refinement, retrospective, and review/demo.
• Spar and share knowledge with your fellow system engineers in the C2 organization.

Key foundational competencies include:

• A structured analytic approach to problem solving
• Ability to work on different layers of abstraction
• Ability to communicate with different levels of technical detail
• Ability to compartmentalize complex problems and systems into smaller segments

We imagine that your background might look something like this:

• An education within IT, engineering or natural science, e.g. physics or mathematics

Experience with system engineering

• Experience with project management (but with a technical background)
• Experience in Linux system administration.
• Experience in Linux system integration.
• Experience in automatic provisioning and configuration (we are using Ansible).
