Senior Frontend Engineer
WhiteAway Group
Would you like to be part of an autonomous squad using hypothesis driven development to build the best performing and most scalable webshops out there? Want to work with a stack based on React, Next.js and Node.js – hosted in AWS? Interested? Then you might be our new Senior Frontend Engineer!
Whiteaway Group has grown from a start-up to a successful retailer, selling and shipping household appliances to customers in all of Scandinavia. It all started as an idea, a clear customer focus, and a digital mindset. This is still who we are – we’re change-makers at heart.
As our new Senior Frontend Engineer, you’ll join the tech department with 34 dedicated and passionate colleagues. You’ll join Tech Development and one of our autonomous product squads, where you’ll work with UX’ers, data scientists, and software engineers to solve problems and fulfil your squad’s mission.
The job is all about:
- As part of one of our 5 autonomous product squads working on our B2B and B2C e-commerce platforms, you’ll be involved in every aspect of the development process from figuring out how to achieve the squad’s mission right through to deployment (something we do on a daily basis). We’re inspired by the Spotify model although we’ve evolved a lot since then.
- Actively participate in solution design and architecture discussions in your squad and collaborate across squads to share learnings and align direction.
- Deliver great code and inspire others to do so by example and by working with peers and mentoring juniors to help them develop.
- Hypothesis driven development means that you and your colleagues will determine how best to achieve the desired outcomes and fulfil the squad’s mission. There'll be sprints and backlog items, but the focus is on the mission and the outcomes.
We’d like to think that you:
- Perhaps have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or similar. But more importantly, you have several years of software engineering experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks like React. You’re probably a big fan of Next.js or similar and love optimising for performance and scalability.
- Have experience validating your hypothesis with A/B tests and tracking user journeys with Google Analytics. You’re used to working with systems at scale.
- We all have a DevOps mindset, and engineers are used to deploying their own applications (sometimes several times a day), so experience with clouds like AWS or Azure would be a great advantage.
- As a person, you’re a great communicator, you lead the way, take responsibility, and work with your team to make the right choices regarding software design and technology choices. You care about quality and building things right, but you are also able to deliver when the rubber hits the road.
- Thrive working in a team setting, giving constructive feedback, and helping others so that the team can develop and succeed.
We like to think we have quite an amazing workplace, including:
- A dynamic and international environment with room for you to be you
- Lots of opportunities to develop professionally and to influence your own work life
- A flat, informal organisation with short decision-making processes
- Colleagues who care about what they do and how we are with each other
- Attractive settings, such as: flexible work hours, the opportunity to have days working from home, health care, lunch scheme, Friday breakfast, gym, and active staff association.
