Senior System Engineer

About the role
In our Platforms team, we are looking to hire an experienced Senior Systems Engineer, holding a valid Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator certification, or similar proven experience.

We chose Cloud over OnPrem, having all infrastructure deployed in Azure.

We are offering you the chance to work with mission-critical payments systems and co-designing the foundation for a Linux based desktop environment, used by developers, system engineers and support functions – all based on RHEL 9, flavours of -and Debian based operating systems.

You will be working from our office in Copenhagen,where we show up physically and you’ll be reporting to the Platforms team lead.

What you will be doing

• Administer Linux based operating systems, ensuring availability, performance, and (application, kernel, userland and network) security.
• Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to other team members, architects, and other stakeholders across Banking Circle.
• Supporting our development teams, deploying changes on backend systems.
• Supporting our DevOps, IT Security and 24/7/365 monitoring teams.
• Prepare and participate in audits performed by external and internal IT auditors.
  • We are audited on requirements set forth by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier, The Digital Operational Resilience Act & ISO27K.
• Collaborate with approved third parties to evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and solutions.
• Participate in the on-call rota.

What we are looking for
To be the right candidate for this position, we expect you to have a demonstrated capability from an applicable role. Preferably within a regulated entity.

• You want to be around your Banking Circle team members and colleagues.
• At minimum, 5 years’ worth of intense work experience with RHEL -and Debian based operating systems.
• Solid experience with Red Hat Satellite, IdM and Automation Platform.
• Solid experience in automation and scripting using ansible, bash and python.
• Solid experience in application protocols, such as DNS, HTTP/S and STMP to name a few
• Solid understanding of IP networking and storage systems.
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms.
• Excellent troubleshooting and technical communications skills.
• You speak human and git.
• You are not afraid of a (sometimes) “non-handheld” challenge.
• You want to educate and learn from colleagues and our business.
• Provide the thing we do not have (let us know what that is).

Definite plusses, not a requirement, hands-on experience with

• Spacewalk, Apache ActiveMQ, JBoss, Postfix, PowerDNS and Weblogic.
• The Red Hat OpenShift platform.
• FreeIPA (For Non-RHEL distributions).
• The ELK stack and log sources.
• The Azure cloud platform.
• X.509 PKI Infrastructures.
• Azure DevOps, Terraform & PowerShell.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including development teams and business users. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities.
As a person, you are open-minded and have “I-can-do” attitude. You should take responsibility and take personal ownership of your tasks while also being a knowledge-sharing team-player producing and maintaining related documentation and reports. You have good communication skills in communicating security principles, issues and incidents to the business, peers and management.

As Banking Circle is an international company it’s a requirement, that you are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. If you master other relevant languages it will be an asset.
