The company JD Agro Cocora SRL in Romania is among the largest Conservation Agriculture companies in Europe. The company uses the latest technology and ambitiously and expansively follows the mission to generate profit with consideration for nature, environment, and people.
Today, the company operates on 17,000 ha and has 70 employees across three strategically located sites: Cocora Main Farm in Southeast Romania with 11,500 ha of crop cultivation at a soil rating of 8, boasting a storage capacity of 40,000 tonnes; Amzacea Farm, situated 200 km from the main farm near the Black Sea, with 5,500 ha of crop cultivation; and the administration in Bucharest, overseeing finance, legal matters, HR, land leasing, and land expansion.
Newly Created COO Position
As part of the company's ongoing development, the organisation is expanding with the creation of the COO position, responsible for crop cultivation, budgeting, personnel, production, and operations of the Cocora Main Farm with 11,500 ha within Conservation Agriculture.
As COO, your task is to ensure that crop cultivation achieves new top results with the lowest possible carbon footprint, and that JD Agro Cocora becomes Europe's leading company within Conservation Agriculture.
Development is obtained through operational optimisation, planning crop selection and rotation, evaluating new cultivation methods, and implementing timely measures, such as climatic adjustments, through the farm's production team.
As COO and leader of the farm, middle managers report to you, including team leaders in agriculture, the department head of technology, storage, and service, as well as the upcoming leader of the new irrigation department.
Additionally, you are responsible for the budget, overseeing and controlling operating costs, and collaborating with the finance department on the farm's operating accounts.
In this position, you report directly to JD Agro Cocora's CEO, Hans Poulsen, who has been at the helm of the well-organised and professionally operated agricultural company since 2010.
75% Crop Cultivation, Leadership, and Support - 25% Administration
When leading the Cocora Farm, you will be planning and organising the annual and seasonal tasks of production, finding solutions to emerging challenges, and participating in the daily joint morning briefing.
As the person in charge of crop cultivation methods and yields, you will be closely monitoring production and crop cultivation during seasons, conducting daily field inspections, and supporting the production team with professional assistance.
You should expect to devote an average of 25% of your time to administrative tasks, including gaining an overview through online IT Agro management programmes for production recording, control, and follow-up.
In addition to being a superuser of management and field systems, you are also an Excel superuser, managing cost control. Monthly budget follow-ups are conducted in collaboration with top management, reviewing cost benefits for the farm.
It is important that crop cultivation is your passion and core competency. You should be development- and result-oriented, well-educated, preferably an agronomist, and have experience in managing large-scale crop cultivation. The corporate language is English.
