What can expect in your new job at Danske Commodities (DC)

As the new Software developer, you will join Danske Commodities Bifrost portfolio team, a cross functional team architecting, developing, and operating a new Enterprise streaming data platform – a platform that is essential to DC. You will design and build custom components, and integrate with managed solutions in the cloud, as well as self-hosted open-source components. The goal is to deliver a scalable, stable and easy to use platform for our Quantitative Analysts enabling them to build automated low latency trading algorithms.

Starting out, you will get a thorough introduction to the team, your tasks and the IT landscape of DC. In the beginning, you will be working closely together with other Software developers, so that you are introduced properly to the current landscape. Also, you will be assigned a buddy to guide you through your first time and give you the best possible start in the team. After a while, you will get more responsibility and you will work on further developing and strengthening the platform.

Your responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and maintain data platform components such as Python libraries, integrations & and data processing services written in C# or Java
    • Building services leveraging the functionality of managed and 3rdparty solutions.
    • Apply CI/CD best practices to ensure a smooth delivery process
    • Monitor and optimize performance, availability, through proactive monitoring, alerting. Collaborate with the team to build a platform that is performant, maintainable and provides a good user experience
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues, performance bottlenecks, etc., in coorporation with the end users
    • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data streaming & data analytics technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve the overall platform architecture
    • are independent, reliant and adaptable as you will operate in a dynamic team
    • are a team-oriented person who enjoys collaboration – but also thrives with working independently and taking the lead on a task if require
    • see opportunities where others see problems
    • enjoy sharing knowledge with others and learning new skills
    • take a positive view: no job too big, no job too small – the team covers a wide range of tasks, and they always support each other in getting the job done
    • have a relevant educational background within information technology, e.g., Computer Science or similar
    • have a minimum of two years' experience from a similar position, working with planning, designing, developing, documenting and managing Microsoft based application environments
    • you probably have experience working with Kafka or a similar event streaming platform and Spark, Flink or similar stream processing engines
    • have experience with either Java, Python or C#, but are not afraid to learn new languages. We prefer to use the right tool for the job. can pose a solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with tools like Github Actions, Azure DevOps, Git, Jenkins, or similar
    • are proficient in English – both written and verbal
