Senior Specialist, Resin and Plastics Process Engineering

Job Description
Are you interested in becoming part of LEGO Group’s sustainable future identifying process optimization opportunities by building up cost and carbon calculations on resins and future sustainable raw materials manufacture of our supply base?

Take your next career step at the LEGO Group in a key role supporting our procurement and sustainability teams by applying your resins industrial production process knowledge to develop first time calculations and evaluate new opportunities for cost and carbon reduction in the supply base.

Core Responsibilities

  • Inspire change by being a capability builder within procurement with an understanding of monomers and their industrial process steps in the production of resins, in particular ABS.
  • Build and deliver Should Cost and carbon estimates for resins based on your production system and value chain knowledge and carry out market index analysis for resins comparing to the calculation models that you will deliver.
  • Facilitate workshops with suppliers on idea generation using Should Cost data to identify major cost drivers and areas of waste/ opportunity
  • Define the variation of the production process for our different suppliers and monomers composition in the polymerization of ABS
  • Use resins Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) knowledge with the Sustainability team and build a value for money process using the Should Cost calculation methodology
  • Drive high quality work by performing regular updates and checks on market indices related to raw materials through research and benchmarking that also allows for parametric forecasting of future costs.
  • Communicate effectively with outstanding stakeholder management skills bringing cross functions together to realize further savings from the data built.

Play your part in our team succeeding
Cost Engineering is a key department within Global Procurement. It is primarily focused on the development of ground up Should Cost calculations to support Procurement in identifying cost opportunities. The department also has a key role in enhancing the cost capability of buyers.

We play a vital role in the future calculation of CO2 for our supply base. The department is the technical side of the Procurement function with focus on data & insights to provide cost data for financial forecasting and product development choices.

Do you have what it takes?

  • A highly motivated individual with a background in Production or Chemical Engineering with proven experience in the industrial production process of plastics resins
  • A deep understanding of monomers in particular ABS production processes and strong Polymer circularity experience with the potential ability to apply the production parameters to calculate CO2 impact.
  • Understanding of finance metrics, market indices and the resin supply chain in the creation of a Should Cost
  • Strong analytical skills, good technique in and understanding of Cost Estimating principles and able to interpret data.
  • Proven experience or parametric cost tools with good knowledge in data analytics and statistics with application of relevant tools (Excel, Access, SQL, cloud, Power BI etc.)
  • An understanding of the refineries production systems would be an advantage.

As a person you have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and are collaborative in approach. Travel should be expected in this role.
