Project Leader - process/hydrogen safety

Advanced Fire Engineering – Maritime and Energy is a growing department in a large Danish organization focused on fire safety and security. We continue our impact-making journey in the energy and transportation sectors, working to promote a safe and fast transition of these sectors away from carbon-based fuels to contribute to addressing climate change. We do this by running R&D projects and serving customers in these industries. We demonstrate the potential of new technologies, work with authorities and the public to promote fair and safe adoption of technologies related to renewable energy, hydrogen, batteries, ammonia, methanol, container shipping, passenger transportation and much more.

We are looking for a curious, open-minded Project Leader with technical expertise to lead fire and explosion safety projects with partners in the hydrogen sector.

About the role
As our new Project Leader, you will be leading diverse teams of experts to deliver state-of-the-art results to our partners in the hydrogen sector, working on some of our largest fire safety projects. Our experts have a variety of backgrounds including fire safety engineers, explosion specialists, and social scientists. The projects could concern hydrogen production, storage, transport, usage, or even data production in a variety of settings such as harbors, shipping, production plants etc.

Your goal is to ensure high-quality delivery on time and on budget, to lead your project team through, to assist them in solving the task, and to create a safe and productive work atmosphere within the project. You will have direct contact with the partners and will defend the results from the team. You will have economic responsibility for your projects.

Within your own field of expertise, you will act as a mentor for the team.

The role will have you lead R&D projects, projects for clients, and projects within other parts of the energy or transportation sector.

You will report to one of the Team Leaders of the department.

Your main tasks will be:

• Leading a project team.
• Responsibility for deadlines and budget.
• Mentoring in your own area of technical expertise.
• Contact with partners.

What you need to succeed
We would like to see:

• Good verbal and written communication.

Your qualifications:

• 5 years’ experience with project management.
• Experience working as an engineer or engineering consultant with hydrogen and related technologies.
• Minimum M.Sc. in chemical engineering, process engineering or equivalent relevant engineering education.
• Excellent in both written and spoken English.
• Familiar with SEVESO and ATEX directives.

In addition, it would be beneficial if you:

• have prior experience within the energy, offshore, or wind industry.
• have experience navigating multidisciplinary environments.
• are familiar with human factors.
• have technical understanding of fire simulations (CFD, FEM).
• have prior experience with risk analysis methodologies (HAZID, HAZOP, Bowtie, ALARP…)
