DCA is working with local partners in South Sudan to assist the poorest of the poor with a focus on protection, combating hunger, working for peace and conflict mitigation and the safe removal of explosive remnants of war (EWR).

Our colleague is going on maternity leave, and we are looking for someone to join the team and take up her responsibilities until she returns.

The Role:
You will be leading the Project and Partnership Management on Resilient Livelihoods and Sustainable Food Security, support DCA strategy development and delivery of an integrated programme on resilient livelihoods. The position also requires understanding of DRR/DRM, agro-ecology, value chain analysis, and climate change adaptation and mitigation. You will also be responsible for supporting the development of proposals, preparation of the Annual Programme reports, project monitoring and advocacy, networking, and influencing.

Specific duties and responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Jointly responsible with partners for the effective and quality implementation, monitoring, evaluation (including facilitating external evaluations) and reporting on projects, in line with jointly agreed standards (Programme Project Management Manual (PPM)) and donor requirements in collaboration with the various CO departments.
  • Lead the coordination of all partner's organisation capacity assessments through setting a timeframe to be followed by all departments / relevant staff in an organized manner and ensuring full steps of PAT conducted and capacity development plans taken forward for implementation.
  • Provide technical support across the project- and partner portfolio on FSL and Resilience to ensure procedures are followed and context-relevant activities are implemented in line with DCA’s policies and strategy.
  • Lead the support to partners and the integration of sclr, GCT, and agroecology into the programme.
  • Take lead on the adherence to DCA’s Global Goal “Build Resilient Communities”.
  • Promote climate resilient practices, DRR and mitigation in collaboration with partners and according to the latest knowledge and approaches.
  • Support partners in accessing the tools and support required to successfully implement capacity development plans.
  • Facilitate the strengthening of the human, financial, information, documentation, and governance systems of partner organizations in an organized and structured manner.
  • Coach and mentor partners in institutional development.
  • Enhance synergy points in the project and the issue of networking with other partners and sister organizations.
  • Organize (and where relevant accompany) partners’ visits.
  • Act as focal point for DCA South Sudan in relevant clusters, working groups, and communities of practice and ensure knowledge sharing across the project- and partner portfolio.
  • Coordinate with the relevant staff in partner proposal development and review process in their respective specialty and submit to PM for approvals.
  • Ensure all awarding projects meet full PPD and PPM documentation and filling procedures!
  • Coordinate with the POs and MEAL team to ensure that all proposal goals and log frame indicators are aligned to overall DCA strategic goals.
  • Coordinate regular field monitoring with POs and partners to actualize project deliverables versus actual implementation and ensure all field Monitoring reports reviewed and action point brought to the team's attention for corrective measures.

The position will be reporting to the Programme Manager.

The position will work closely together with colleagues in the programme team, the MEAL team, the implementing partners, stakeholders, and advisors at HQ.

Required Competencies:
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate has:

  • Expertise and at least 5 years of experience working within the field of resilience, livelihoods, agroecology, financial inclusion, DRR and partner capacity strengthening.
  • A bachelor’s degree within a relevant field
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Good understanding of Project Cycle Management, humanitarian, and do-no-harm principles, HRBA and PANEL principles.
  • Experience in working with and capacity strengthening of local partners.
  • Team player with excellent communication and strong participatory leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas in South Sudan and internationally when required.

The successful applicant will be offered a contract until end of October 2024.
