CONSULTANCY PROJECT MANAGER, BASED IN RABAT, MOROCCO

The right candidate has solid project management skills and is highly interested in learning how to work with state actors with a human rights mandate and professionally deepen his/her substantive knowledge and expertise in human rights.

The project manager will be working directly with a senior adviser based in Rabat and with a team in Copenhagen and in the region.

The Danish Institute for Human Rights (the Institute) is an independent state-funded institution. Our mandate is to promote and protect human rights and equal treatment in Denmark and abroad. We co-operate with state actors on the respect, protection, and fulfilment of human rights by providing substantive, organisational and processual advice to these actors. As a project manager you will support the implementation of the Danish Institute for Human Rights’ engagement in Morocco and your work is funded by the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP). Read more about DAPP here, https: https://www.dapp.dk/en/.

MAIN TASKS
As a project manager, the consultant shall:

  • Design, plan and execute activities according to the concepts and methodologies of the Institute. You will have overall responsibility for all activities and planning, incl. development of annual work plans and monitoring activities' implementation, as well as planning of the annual budget.
  • Manage the project in accordance with the Institute's project management and administration procedure, including monitoring, budgeting, and reporting. The project manager can be required to carry out financial risk assessments of civil society partners.
  • Support the definition of conceptual approaches and strategic thinking in the project.
  • Produce analytical work. You need to be able to conceptualise how the institute should engage with its partners as well as support tactical adaptations of the work plans and results framework.
  • Manage logistical arrangements for activities.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of the project including harvesting outcomes in line with the Outcome Harvesting approach.
  • Contribute as required to partnership development. The Institute´s work rests on a strong commitment to the partners and partnerships. As a project manager you may have the responsibility to initiate, develop, cultivate one or several partnerships with state and non-state actors.
  • Represent the project and the Institute as required.

A very strong requirement of the position is that you are very good in working collaboratively to achieve common goals.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Solid experience with project management, including good working knowledge of Excel and GANNT.
  • Dynamic and eager to learn about working on human rights with state actors.
  • Knowledge of human rights in the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills. You like to study new areas and you can write an analytical piece.
  • Team player who can work with a high degree of autonomy. It is essential that you have the skills to work collaboratively and constructively.
  • Excellent organisational skills. You plan your work and support the work of the advisors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferably a Master’s degree in human rights. Master’s degree in political science, international law, sociology or a related field is accepted.
  • As a minimum, 3 years of experience working as a project manager.
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of human rights is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of the working of state actors in Morocco is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of donor funded international development and /or human rights capacity building projects is a strong advantage.
  • Languages: Arabic is mandatory for this position. French or English is a requirement. Working proficiency in 2 of the 3 languages is required. Fluency in all 3 languages is an advantage.
  • Professional and active approach to partners.

CONDITIONS OF CONSULTANCY
As the duty station is Rabat, Morocco only applicants with permits to work and reside in the country will be considered.

The Institute offers fee rate range between 1900 and 2200 EUR per month and the exact fee will be based on the candidate’s unique combination of experience and skills. The consultant is responsible for the payment of all applicable taxes accruing on the remuneration according to the national law and tax legislation.

Please note this is a time-restricted position running from June 2024 until June 2025.
