Head of Operations & PMO, Logistics

Are you ready to head a Project Management team where the focus is centered around developing new, and driving existing, projects? A position where your strategic mindset meets your operational knowledge in a combination that brings you close to the core business.

As the Head of Operations & PMO in NORDEN you will join our Logistics department. A department responsible for negotiating and conducting long-term freight contracts with customers, starting in the stage of designing port logistics solutions to developing them.

You will manage projects linked to logistics, from inception to operations, in a global setting, which will expose you to many different cultures.

While this position is in a maritime context, you may have developed your operational experience in a variety of industries including oil and gas, mining and major infrastructure projects ideally with a marine component. If you have great experience in these associated industries, this position is for you.

You will be working from our headquarters in Hellerup, Denmark.

A key role in NORDEN’s presence
This role has an integral part in project management and development, requiring you to set the direction and take charge of cultivating genuine and enduring relationships both within and outside of NORDEN.

External stakeholders will typically be vendors, mining companies, pool partners and vessel owners. While the internal stakeholders are departments like Technical Management, Finance, Legal, Freight Services & Trading (FST) and Risk Management.

You will have people, located in West Africa, reporting directly to you. Besides this, you will be part of a well-established leadership team reporting to the Head of Logistics.

The task that await you
You will take on the responsibility of maintaining and developing procedures and process governance around the operations of projects. Further, your main areas of work will be:

• Management of existing projects including oversight of profitability and project KPI’s.

• Reporting related to existing projects and project planning pipelines.
• Contributing to project bid development activities including comprehensive risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
• Implementation of new projects.
• Supporting and utilising standard project management techniques and softwares.

You will act as the link between project planning and execution, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met along with quality standards and therefore follow operational safety outcomes and customer satisfaction closely.

You should expect travel activities.

Your competencies and core qualifications
To excel in this role, it is important that you can see yourself in the below statements:

• You hold extensive operations experience from maritime logistics projects (drybulk).
• You have been P&L responsible before.
• You have proven project management skills and experience.
• You are an experienced people manager with great communication and leadership skills with the ability to empower a team.
• You hold good negotiation skills, within areas such as commercial contracts, vendor equipment, mobilization and shipyards.
