Læger Uden Grænser / Médecins Sans Frontières

MSF IS looking for a Development Advisor for NON-medical IMS
Are you an experienced HR or People Manager with at least one MSF mission under your belt? Then this may be an opportunity for you. For our offices in Copenhagen, we are looking for a skilful Development Advisor to ensure a professional career management of our pool of non-medical International Mobile Staff.

As a Partner Section, one of the ways in which MSF DK contributes to reaching MSF’s operational objectives is by recruiting, deploying, and developing qualified staff for the movement’s mobile positions. To this end, MSF DK manages two pools of International Mobile Staff (IMS): A medical and paramedical pool on the one hand, and a non-medical pool on the other. Each pool is managed by a Development Advisor (DA).

The main responsibility of the DAs is two-fold:

    • Ensure that MSF’s operational HR needs are met by matching suitable candidates from MSF DK’s pools of medical, paramedical, and non-medical IMS with vacant positions in the field in collaboration with the Pool Managers (PM) of the different Operational Centres (OC).
    • Provide all IMS with the necessary support before, during, and after each deployment throughout their career with MSF DK.
For this position, we are looking for a person who is:
    • committed to MSF’s principles and values,
    • flexible, including towards working hours (evening and/or weekend work may occur),
    • stress resistant,
    • a good team player,
    • service oriented,
    • autonomous with good time management skills.

To hold this position, you must:

    • hold a bachelor’s degree,
    • have experience with HR or People Management (preferably within an international context),
    • have completed at least one mission with MSF,
    • be proficient in English both orally and in writing (proficiency in Danish and/or French is a plus),
    • have experience with HR-systems and data management.

Your main responsibilities and tasks will be to:

    • contribute to MSF DK’s IMS recruitment strategy and support recruitment activities to attract high-quality applicants in collaboration with the Recruiter,
    • participate in Assessment Centers when needed,
    • establish and maintain close, sustainable relationships with the PMs of the different OCs,
    • propose suitable candidates for vacant mobile positions,
    • search for opportunities for IMS in-between missions at the office in Copenhagen or one of the MSF HQs as part of the IMS development and retention strategy,
    • gather information on the IMS’s potential to identify and support appropriate development strategies and plans for the individual IMS,
    • maintain regular contact with all non-medical IMS before, during and after each deployment, and follow up with adequate support and career advice,
    • brief and debrief all non-medical IMS before and after each deployment,
    • coordinate and/or facilitate Global Inductions and various workshops for IMS,
    • facilitate IMS induction and training courses,
    • represent MSF DK IMS and participate in international working groups.

In addition, you may be asked to:

    • carry out short-term field assignments (gap fillings, training facilitation),
    • take on new IMS related projects and/or participate in cross-departmental activities,
    • represent HR in internal communication meetings and,
    • occasionally act as spokesperson for MSF DK.

Line management: The non-medical DA will be working in close collaboration with the medical and paramedical DA and report directly to the People Director.

    Working hours: Fulltime.

Start date: As soon as possible.

Location: MSF DK office at Strandlodsvej 44 in Copenhagen.

As non-medical Development Advisor, you can expect to be working:

    • in tandem with the medical and paramedical DA and in close collaboration the Recruiter within a small, closeknit HR team of 7 employees and 4 volunteers,
    • in a flexible, hybrid set-up with the option to work partly from home,
    • in an open and inclusive environment characterised by a high degree of flexibility, trust, and close collaboration between departments in the spirit of what we call the One-office mindset.

If you can see yourself in this position, tell us why in a cover letter and send it with your CV to [email protected].

There will be two rounds of interviews. The first round of interviews is expected to take place 22/05/2024 and will be conducted online.
