Part-Time Lecturer to High-Performance Game Programming at the IT University of Copenhagen

Job description
The MSc in Games is looking for one or two teachers to co-teach the second-year Game Technology track course 'High-Performance Game Programming' from Autumn 2024 onward.
The candidate is expected to teach the students about algorithms and concepts that are at the core of the development of modern game engines. The key topics include Entity-component systems, Profiling and optimization, Multi-processing, Hardware acceleration and SIMD,
Data-oriented design, and Physics simulation. The course will utilize Unity game engine. Examination and assessment, together with other course teachers, may be included in the role of a Part-time Lecturer per later agreement.

A qualified candidate possesses prior teaching experience in university settings, work experience in game development, significant experience with Unity game engine, proficient English verbal and written communication skills, good coordination skills, and an enthusiasm to teach programming to master's students. The candidate should also be interested in sharing the teaching load with other teachers and distribute responsibilities according to everyone's availability and capacities.

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time Faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

About the Digital Design Department
Digital Design is organized in three sections; Design Research, Play, Culture and AI, and Digital Societies and Participation. The sections serve as the organizational framework for the department's research which is further divided into several research groups, labs, and a research center. We offer a BSc and MSc in Digital Design and Interactive Technologies and a MSc in Games. Our research and teaching approaches are based on diversity, inclusiveness interdisciplinarity and collaboration.

Salary and terms of employment
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s currently applicable Circular of the Agreement for Part-time Lecturers at Universities and Other Establishments of Higher Education under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

Qualification Requirements
The following qualifications are required:

  • Candidates should have a MSc (or equivalent)

The applicant will be accessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 March 2012.
The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
