In this role you will support the entire VELUX Group by ensuring the development and maintenance of robust data platforms aligned with the VELUX data strategy.

What you will do
You will join a newly established Data Platform Team of skilled and engaged colleagues of different seniority. The team is part of the global department IT & Digital Enablement (IT&DE) supporting the entire VELUX Group. As a Senior Data Engineer part of your responsibilities will be to mentor and guide more junior colleagues and to promote a culture of knowledge sharing within the team.

One main focus in the role will be the development and maintenance of robust data pipelines and architectures using technologies like Snowflake, dbt and Kafka working on a completely new data platform. Another focus point will be to contribute to shaping the data infrastructure and its alignment with the organization's overarching data strategy.

Your key responsibilities will include to:

• Lead the strategic design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, focusing on efficiency and reliability while aligning these efforts with broader business goals
• Implement data governance best practices for security, integrity, and privacy
• Stay ahead of innovative technologies and tools to enhance data infrastructure and processing capabilities
• Evaluate emerging solutions for storage, processing, and analytics in alignment with strategic priorities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, establishing leadership in providing the necessary data infrastructure to support data-driven insights and decision-making
• Play a crucial role in contributing to the data strategy of the IT organization together with the Data Platform Manager, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals, and ensuring the execution of that strategy such as rolling out domain-oriented data products with decentralized ownership.

You will be part of a global organisation and an international team and will be based at either our offices in Warsaw, Poland, or the Head Office in Hørsholm, Denmark. We utilise our available technology to work virtually and flexible but you can expect some travelling.

Who you are
We are looking for you who have at least 5 years’ experience working in data engineering with a solid background in data pipeline development. You have advanced problem-solving skills and high level of responsibility for individual work and teamwork.

Moreover, we imagine that you:

• Are proficient in data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and database management
• Have extensive experience with cloud-based data platforms and services (preferably experience with Azure)
• Have advanced knowledge of programming languages like Python and SQL
• data warehousing, big data technologies, and distributed computing framework
• Have a strategic mindset and proven experience with fostering collaboration and developing and implementing strategic initiatives
• Are fluent in English (spoken and written) with solid communication skills
