What we are looking for 🕵️‍♀️
We are looking for a Java Lead to join our team in Colombia. This will be a customer facing role supporting our team in Colombia as well as in the US.

Responsibilities:

• Own the technical architecture and design of the solution and oversee development activities when acting as the technical leader
• Implement and maintain robust backend services using Java and SpringBoot within our microservice architecture
• Design RESTful APIs and event-based messaging for smooth interservice communication, ensuring seamless data flow between the frontend and backend
• Oversee the deployment and management of services on the AWS, focusing on scalability, security, and performance
• Regularly evaluate the application's performance, optimizing code and infrastructure to meet and exceed performance benchmarks
• Perform code reviews and enforce coding guidelines and best practices
• Own software release activities, including, but not limited to, reviewing code changes, client demos, QA hand-offs, and presenting solutions and justifications for tasks
• Debug or troubleshoot complex or critical issues that cannot be handled by junior positions, and provide root cause analysis
• Lead and managed a team of engineers
• Create training programs for technologies within fields of expertise
• Participate actively in development the overall backend practice at ML
• Provide expert knowledge of application/system architecture, guiding the dev process to ensure code is developed to spec

Job requirements
Requirements

• 6+ Years of Experience in software development with Java (8+ versions), Spring (MVC, Boot, Security)
• 2+ Years of Experience as a technical leader, strong leadership skills
• Web Services, Microservices, Rest APIs
• Experience with cloud development (Preferably AWS)
• Experience with event driven architecture development (Preferably AWS)
• Significant knowledge of complex database concepts, experience with SQL databases
• Able to demonstrate strong work experience in analyzing algorithms like searching, sorting, and other algorithms
• Advanced knowledge of SOLID principles, Design patterns, OOP + Experience with Agile methodologies, Scrum framework
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to addressing challenges
• B2 English level

Nice to have

• Software Development with Github Copilot
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)
• Experience with payments and fintech platforms
• Advanced knowledge of Amazon Aurora-MySQL
• Familiarity with messaging pipelines (AWS SQS or Kafka)
