Then you might be our new Senior Manager for our Embedded Hardware area.
Your Challenges
Joining us at our offices in Skjern or Østbirk (your presence is required on both locations), you will report directly to Senior Director of Mechatronics and Digital modules, Senad Huskic, in VELUX Innovation Center (R&D). You will be part of a leadership team of 6, consisting of 4 sub teams: Drive units and controls; Software communication platforms; Software drive unit platform and automated testing; and last but not least, your team in Hardware and power supply unit.
You and your team will have a great deal of interaction with colleagues and stakeholders across the Products organization, as well as across the full VELUX organization, especially our Supply organization (Procurement, Production, Quality etc.).
Your responsibility will include people management of 11 employees and 5 external consultants developing high quality embedded HW solutions. Focus is needed to streamline the design process as well as defining core and 3 party elements to accelerate digital transformation. Part of the task is to establish firm technology roadmap with focus on connectivity, sourcing and secure that modules are ready ahead of the projects securing a transformation towards module development. Team is responsible for both technology development, new products and optimization of the products giving the full end-to-end responsibility.
More specifically, you will
- Provide technical direction and solutions for embedded HW as well as power supply strategies for both mains and solar driven products.
- Create and communicate a compelling vision for change.
- Oversee the execution of strategic initiatives with MDM across to secure cross transformational change.
- Transform Innovational balance in the hardware portfolio to have better balance with Technology, NPL (New Product Launch), Cost out, Sustainability and Quality, and maintenance tasks.
- Secure increased focus on Systems Engineering and reliability in design with stakeholders across Quality, Supplier Quality and Testing.
- Define HW architecture and sourcing strategy, encourage and inspire team to take ownership of architectural decisions and improve operational efficiency via automation, as well as reducing the complexity in the product program.
- Monitor progress and adjust tactical plans accordingly, secure data-driven decisions in portfolio.
- Be responsible for end-to-end hardware lifecycle from idea to Technology, NPL, Cost Out & Sustainability Optimization as well as Continues Delivery.
You should expect approx. 20-30 days of travelling per year within Denmark and Europe, e.g. to our production locations. Our development locations are Østbirk, Skjern and Brno in Czech Republic.
Your Qualifications
To be the ideal candidate for this role, it is important that you:
- Have worked intensively with digital transformation and have a good understanding of systems engineering.
- Have experience with leading embedded hardware and power supply teams optimizing hardware architecture.
- Are adapting safe agile principals or equivalent structures to secure speed and flexibility in HW.
- Have experience with scaling via partnerships.
- Bring previous managerial experience.
- Speak and write English proficiently.
In addition, it is beneficial for the role, if you:
- Hold a degree with embedded electronics combined with business or leadership education.
- Bring minimum 5 years as a Senior specialist or Manager position within product development.
- Bring a solid technical understanding of and ability to work in a technically founded environment.
- Are able to gain influence and inspire stakeholders in an international matrix organization, with exposure to VP levels.
- Are experienced in the Stage gate project model.
- Are a good communicator, especially in your interaction with key stakeholders and in presentations.
