Economic Recovery (Urban Livelihoods) Team Leader

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for an Economic Recovery (Livelihoods Urban) Team Leader for its activities in Dnipro.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Line management of Economic recovert team, including division of workplan plan, roles and responsibilities, performance and development:
  • Lead on development of Economic Recovery workplan for Livelihood project activities according to the project proposal, timeline. Including operational, people management, work planning and budget in livelihood activities;
  • Support Economic Recovery Manager in maintaining qualitative programme implementation, including development of relevant operational and technical tools.
  • Support Economic Recovery Manager in project kick off and close out, including resource planning, geo-targeting, and lessons learnt.
  • Support Economic Recovery Manager in identification on current gaps and needs from the field. Providing qualitative and quantitative data to ensure current programming is relevant to the needs of the community.
  • Lead on tracking and management of progress for relevant project activities, including planning field activities, timeline, budget spent etc.
  • Lead on procurement need of the project activities, including drafting ToR, raising PR, liaising with relevant department.
  • Support Economic Recovery Manager in budget follow up, forecasting, cash booking.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments and internal stakeholders.
  • External representation of cluster working group.
  • Lead on external stakeholder engagement, including liaising with local authorities, duty-bearers
  • Support Economic Recovery Manager in identifying partnership opportunities with CSOs, private businesses and duty bearers.
  • Provide technical input on livelihood assessment design, including advising on contextual livelihood information and needs in the areas of implementation of DRC. Identify gaps and advise Economic Recovery Manager on strategic direction of EcRec programming. Develop training materials for staff and persons of concern, and lead in developing staff capacity to implement high-quality livelihood programming.
  • Delivery of technical mentoring in livelihood activities to the internal DRC team, and provision of technical advice and engagement session to beneficiaries as part of the DRC livelihood project intervention.
  • Responsible for maintaining programme implementation quality of livelihood activities. Including overseeing accountability and transparency of implementation.

About you:
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 2 years of experience in economic recovery programming or other related field and in implementing grants based activities.
Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • University degree in Economics: Management, Business Economics, and Business Administration, or related field.
  • Full professional proficiency in Ukrainian and advanced level of English required.
  • Computer literacy: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (with focus on Excel and Word).

In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:

  • Contract length: One-year contract after successful completion of three months’ probation period (renewable depending on performance and funding)

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National.
