Core Responsibilities
As Raw Materials Manager, you will together with your colleagues in the Raw Materials Team be responsible for the polymer material categories used for moulded LEGO® elements. More specifically, you will:

  • Drive technical development and improvements of materials to meet regulatory, sustainability and technical LEGO® requirements related to moulding processes, moulds and machines as wells as element functionality, appearance and quality.
  • Lead and strengthen supplier relationships and build on our insights in the manufacturing supply chain of polymers.
  • Set technical requirements for materials and create the right link towards manufacturing and product platforms, using the opportunities in our advanced internal test laboratories.
  • Apply available production and quality data to strengthen our understanding of material behavior across the supply chain.
  • Explore possibilities in simulation and ongoing digitalization to strengthen our ability to link materials to related technology platforms.
  • Represent Materials in various manufacturing and product development activities as well as being a key contributor in problem solving activities across our supply chain.

Play your part in our team succeeding
You will become part of the Materials department in the Engineering and Quality organization located in Billund. The department is responsible for the materials used globally in our production sites to mould and decorate LEGO® elements. The materials include polymers (Raw Materials), coloring masterbatches and decoration inks.

The purpose of the department is to develop and maintain robust, safe and high-quality materials for efficient use in current and new manufacturing technologies. The department contributes to the sustainability ambitions of the LEGO Group by developing new sustainable materials.

In the Materials department, you will join the Raw Materials Team, responsible for existing raw materials used today in global production. The team consists of eight highly skilled colleagues with diverse sets of backgrounds, seniority levels, ages, nationalities, etc.

Do you have what it takes?
The ideal candidate holds preferably BSc or MSc degree in Polymers, Materials, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical, Process, Manufacturing engineering or equivalent. Furthermore, you will have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in polymer material development, formulation or selection in an industrial context, including knowledge on main commodity and engineering polymers.
  • Proven success using data, digitalization or simulation as tools to create transparency and improvements.
  • A natural flair for analyzing and building end-to-end understanding and showing curiosity and learning mindset on other technical disciplines and areas.
  • Experience working with specification and requirement management.
  • Strong collaboration skills, and ability to create an impact across different areas and functional disciplines - you work as a team player!
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to target communication to different audiences.
  • Proficiency in English both written and verbal.

Furthermore, it will be an advantage, if you bring:

  • Skills in data processing, analysis and visualization e.g., through Excel, Power BI or Minitab.
  • Has hands-on experience with material testing, injection moulding or product testing.
  • Experience with problem solving and relevant tools.
