About the Team and Role
As our new Country Manager, you will be responsible for driving Partisia’s expansion in Japan. This senior-level position involves overseeing market penetration, operations, business development, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has a mix of technical understanding, business acumen, and market expertise from Japan as (s)he will lead the charge in establishing key partnerships, gaining customers, and driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
You will particularly work closely together with our Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Chief Product Officer (CPO) and the rest of the Commercial team, where you have the following responsibilities:
Market Planning and Expansion:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market plan for Japan, aligning with global business objectives.
- Identify market opportunities in sectors relevant for Partisia’s products and solutions, such as financial services, pharma, manufacturing, professional services, and eGovernment.
- Spearhead efforts to build brand awareness and position the company as a leader in blockchain, cryptography, and multiparty computation within Japan.
Sales and Business Development:
- Lead sales and business development efforts to establish and grow relationships with enterprise clients, government entities, and strategic partners.
- Collaborate with global sales and technical teams to deliver tailored solutions to the Japanese market.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that the company’s operations comply with Japanese regulations, particularly around data privacy, cryptography, and blockchain technologies.
- Monitor industry-specific regulations and provide insights to the leadership team on changes that may affect the business.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Build and lead a small high-performance team, including sales, operations, and business development.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the Japanese office that aligns with the company’s global values.
Partnerships and Alliances:
- Establish and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Drive strategic partnerships with technology vendors, research institutions and ecosystem players in blockchain and cryptography.
Qualifications:
- Able to work full-time on-site from Tokyo, Japan.
- Fluency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken).
- Proven track record in a senior commercial leadership role within professional services and/or digital services in Japan.
- Strong network in Japan’s tech ecosystem, including relationships with key stakeholders like government bodies, regulators, potential customers, and partners.
- Deep knowledge of Japan’s regulatory environment concerning data security, blockchain, and encryption technologies.
- Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and business development skills.
- It is not a necessity to be a software developer. However, it is important to have a certain level of technical knowledge to understand our business model, technical platform, and products and communicate the value to clients and partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an international company and navigating cross-cultural environments.
- Background in technology sales, business development, or a technical role with client-facing responsibilities.
- Familiarity with the Japanese software industry, particularly in selling enterprise-level solutions such as blockchain, cybersecurity, or cryptographic tools.
- Experience building strategic partnerships with local businesses, government entities, and other key stakeholders to enhance market reach.
