We are recruiting for an European Sustainability Manager as part of the European Sustainability team to further support the development and execution of the European ESG agenda for PIMCO Prime Real Estate. This role offers a wide exposure to various stakeholders and ESG topics across a diversified European real estate portfolio, with a focus on France, BeNeLux, Italy and/or Spain.

Key responsibilities:

ESG Strategy Execution

• Drive the execution of PIMCO Prime Real Estate’s global ESG agenda across the portfolio with focus on Direct Equity investments
• Conduct ESG-related asset and portfolio level analyses and benchmarking of ESG performance criteria
• Support local asset management colleagues in developing or refining asset-specific ESG strategies (e.g., certifications, decarbonization and energy performance, biodiversity, etc.)
• Communicate and collaborate with the global ESG team to ensure proper strategy execution within the portfolio
• Support business / product development initiatives and investor communication

ESG Initiatives & Tools

• Manage the ESG program for Europe for direct equity investments
  • Manage external advisors
  • Monitor key ESG activities
  • Report to management and investors

• Develop sustainability guidelines and training material
• Monitor ESG implementation status
• Main point of contact for PIMCO Prime Real Estate’s teams (Asset Management, Investments, Technology, etc.) to ensure ESG consistency across the region
• Drive and implement programmatic initiatives within and across the regions
• Manage ESG tool for the respective region

ESG Regulation & Reporting

• Drive reporting efforts for the relevant portfolio and align reporting requirements with the global ESG team, asset management and external advisors/partners
• Keep abreast of key ESG trends and technological advancements in real estate
• Monitor regulatory requirements for ESG / sustainability across various topics such as building performance or reporting requirements with a focus on local regulation
• Contribute to thought leadership through active participation in industry initiatives and public consultations

Key requirements:

• Advanced graduate degree in Sustainability, (Sustainability / Environmental) Management, Real Estate, Finance or Economics, Civil Engineering or Architecture; ideally with additional real estate qualification
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in similar role or in real estate asset / portfolio / fund / investment management, real estate finance / banking or consulting
• Knowledge of real estate investments/asset management and relevant (local) sustainability regulations (e.g. EU Taxonomy, decret tertiaire etc.) is appreciated
• Experience in managing projects
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Detail-oriented with robust quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills and a high level of accuracy
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Hands-on-mentality and persistence to carry out projects and tasks
• Fluency in English and French is a prerequisite; Spanish/Italian/German is appreciated
