Job: IWGIA is looking for an Advisor with excellent project management skills
Do you have solid experience in managing consortium-led projects with many partners around the world? Do you have strong experience working with human rights and are eager to support the rights of some of the most world? And are you interested in new technologies and digital security?

If so, then perhaps you are our new Advisor for our Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI) Project.

The project you will be managing aims to introduce digital technology to Indigenous Peoples’ climate and forest activists (IPFCA) and counter disinformation on climate change in 13 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It focuses on facilitating access and enhancing the capacity of IPFCA to use digital tools for forest and environmental monitoring and documentation of violations and deforestation as well as enhancing their digital resilience and security.

Your primary tasks:
Your tasks as Advisor are to:

  • Liaise with the consortium and national partners and the Donors of the DDI.
  • Coordinate the work plan, project development and reporting as well as budget with consortium and national partners.
  • Keep up to date with regulations and requirements of the donors in coordination with the Donor relations manager.
  • Day-to-day liaise with local project coordinators and administrative staff.
  • Monitor the implementation of project activities in all countries in collaboration with the regional advisors.
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and learning from the DDI within IWGIA.
  • Support the communications team in issues related to the DDI.
  • Engage in relevant tasks in collaboration with other advisors to be identified and tailored in accordance with the candidate’s background and expertise and in relation to existing human resources in IWGIA.
  • Participate in the overall activities of the secretariat.

You as the candidate:
You are ideal for the job if you:

  • Have an advanced university degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Have excellent project management skills: You have at least 5 years of experience in project management related to human rights. You are structured and able to manage a highly complex consortium-led project with many partners and activities and with high administrative demands. You also have a good understanding of budget development and monitoring and knowledge of donor requirements and procedures.
  • You have good knowledge of Indigenous Peoples’ rights, human rights and/or digital security.
  • You have experience with supporting local projects in the Global South and have a good sensitivity to different contexts and high-risk situations.
  • You have a high level of oral and written communication skills in English and preferably a good level in Spanish and Danish.
  • You are a team player and have a positive and constructive approach.
  • You are able and willing to travel.

You will report directly to IWGIA’s Head of Programmes.

Working hours are 37 hours a week, including ½ an hour for lunch. IWGIA follows the state’s salary levels.

We can offer a 2-year employment contract with the possibility of extension.

Work location will be at Prinsessegade 29 B, 3rd floor, 1422 Copenhagen. IWGIA does not cover the cost to relocate.
