We offer a tenure track researcher position for an ambitious candidate to join the Digital Building Technology section to conduct pioneering research on energy system modeling, design and management to improve energy efficiency, activate energy demand flexibility, and enhance energy resilience of buildings and communities. We have access to extensive energy data sets to develop digital twin models of districts based on historical data. You will be working in a vibrant research environment with the possibility of being a partner or PI in many research and innovation projects that can have a great societal impact. You will also be connected to many relevant research communities with experts worldwide.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competencies within modeling and control of energy systems in communities for the deployment of demand flexibility. You will work with colleagues nearby and with academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Teach and supervise MSc student projects and be co-supervisor for PhD students
  • Modeling and control of energy systems in buildings and communities (district heating systems, demand flexibility, fault detection and diagnostics)
  • Data analysis and development of data-driven models (R, Python, Modelica)
  • Publishing research results in reputable journals and conferences
  • Developing and teaching MSc courses
  • Supervising MSc student projects and be co-supervisor for PhD students
  • Participating in and leading new project applications

You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages and, in time, are expected to master both.

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

Starting date is 1 April 2025 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
