Head of Discipline - Water and Wastewater Treatment
COWI A/S
Do you want to lead the way in sustainable water and wastewater treatment solutions? Are you passionate about developing innovative strategies that address environmental challenges and enhance project delivery? And do you have the leadership skills to inspire your team and drive technical excellence? Then join us to shape a better tomorrow!
Empower a team of experts to drive sustainable water and wastewater treatment
To contribute to a greener future, we focus on developing advanced water and wastewater solutions that not only meet current regulatory demands but also promote sustainability and resource conservation. To make a lasting impact in water and wastewater management, we are looking for a Head of Discipline to join our team. We are 20 professionals working alongside our customers on some of Denmark’s most significant projects in water and wastewater treatment. And we are thrilled to contribute to projects like Assens WWTP, Aarhus Rewater, Tinghøj, and recent wins with new treatment plants in Silkeborg and Sønderborg.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Setting the technical direction for water and wastewater treatment projects and maintaining high standards across all projects
- Guiding, mentoring, and developing a team of skilled professionals, fostering a culture of growth, inclusion, and collaboration
- Engaging with clients and partners to understand project needs and deliver innovative solutions that meet sustainability goals
- Ensuring that projects align with COWI’s sustainability and quality standards, particularly on large-scale projects that demand innovative and technically sound solutions
- Driving innovation by adopting new technologies and methodologies and staying updated on trends in water and wastewater treatment, eg. new demands in the newly approved Urban Wastewater Directive.
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future
Like us, you believe that leadership success comes from setting a clear and meaningful direction for your team and supporting them in taking ownership of their work. You always delegate responsibility and ensure an open and safe dialogue, and you coach your people to achieve their aspirations through constructive, fact-based feedback. Attracting and nurturing a diverse group of high-potential team members is at the top of your agenda, as is creating an inclusive, caring and trusting culture in your team.
On top of that, you will have:
- Extensive experience in the water sector, ideally in water and wastewater treatment
- People management experience, fostering professional growth and development within your team
- Strong customer engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work closely with contractors and clients to ensure project success
- A structured and efficient working style, enabling you to prioritize tasks, manage resources effectively and be an inspirational leader for your team
- Excellent communication skills in both Danish and English with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
