You will be part of the Process and Systems Engineering Center (PROSYS) at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU). Research activities in the center have focus on developing the sustainable processes of the future and combine process systems engineering with experimental activities related to fermentation, biocatalysis and downstream processing. Most of our research activities take place in close collaboration with industry and other academic partners.
The job
You will be responsible for the general operation and safety in our labs, supporting bachelor, master, and PhD students with their experiments. It can also include your participation in the preparation and/or execution of lab work for larger projects.
You will be involved in many different activities related to biocatalysis, fermentation and downstream processing research projects.
What we expect from you
Practical experience with working in a lab. You need to be a team player, capable of executing your own tasks and supporting others, with an interest in learning new techniques; you should be good at planning and structuring your tasks while still being flexible enough to allow for support of the ad hoc challenges and problems that occur in a lab.
Specific skills:
- Educational background/knowledge in both microbiology and chemistry
- Hands-on experience in process development projects for both microbiology and chemical processes
- Skilled in both microbiological and chemical lab techniques
- Experienced with managing and maintaining lab equipment
- Experience from working in a GMO Class I lab and familiar with safety protocols
- Experience with the use of Kemibrug as part of lab/chemicals management
The center employs both Danish and English as working language, you are expected to be comfortable with written and spoken communication in at least one of these languages, and in time to master both.
As formal qualification you must have a master’s degree in biochemical engineering (or an equivalent field).

Salary and appointment terms
Salary and appointment terms will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or other relevant agreements.
The position is a permanent full-time position. Starting date is 1 January 2025 (or according to mutual agreement).
The place of work is DTU Lyngby Campus, building 227.
