About the role
As a senior platform engineer, you’ll build and maintain critical platforms supporting developers, such as source code management, CI/CD tools, AI assistants, and more. You’ll work within a close-knit team of five (one product owner, four developers), with flexible remote work options. The team is highly collaborative, with a strong culture of trust and openness, prioritizing work-life balance.
The team’s goal is to deliver curated platform capabilities that simplify complex tasks for developers, enabling them to thrive. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of platform capabilities as we evolve with new technologies and advance our cloud-native journey.
To give you a sense of the technologies we are working with, here is a non-exhaustive list:
- Git-based solutions (e.g., GitHub Enterprise, Bitbucket)
- CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, Artifactory, GitHub Packages)
- AI tools and platforms (e.g., GitHub CoPilot, Azure OpenAI)
- Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, OpenTofu)
- Configuration-as-Code (e.g., YAML, Helm, OPA)
You can read more about how Bankdata works with GitHub and GitHub CoPilot in our recent case study with GitHub and Microsoft.
The role will involve balancing working with the existing platforms, while consolidating around the new and curated platform capabilities we will be building together.
Primary responsibilities
- Highly available platform engineering: Be the reliable partner our developers depend on by building, managing and maintaining always up-and-running platforms.
- Curated platform capabilities: Help the team build curated platform capabilities that our stream-aligned developer journey teams can package for our developers.
- X as a service: Hide the complexity of running highly available and highly scalable cloud-native platforms and tools.
- Simplify and consolidate: Assist in the journey of simplifying and consolidating around some of our future key platforms and tools, especially Github and Github CoPilot.
Success in this role
To succeed in this role, we expect that within 6-12 months you will:
- Become intimately familiar with our existing platform and tooling offerings
- Build strong working relationships both within the team and with key stakeholder teams
- Actively contribute to the journey of consolidating around fewer technologies
- Be a strong voice in planning how to create a more curated platform experience for our developers.
- Help foster a culture of rapid, yet controlled, experimentation.
About you
We are looking for an experienced platform engineer or senior software developer with a drive to work with platforms, tools and AI.
Technicalskills and experience: We imagine you to have some experience with DevOps tools and processes. This includes technologies like the ones mentioned above, but if you experience is with related tools this is fine too. Generally, we expect you to be a strong developer with experience in producing high quality code and maybe even, as a bonus, have some AL/ML experience. Your educational background is probably within IT/EngineeringT on B.Sc. or M.Sc level. Experience with working with developer tooling is important and extra great if you have done so in a complex enterprise environment. Experience from working in a highly regulated environment is a plus.
Personal skills: We imagine you are an open, flexible and team-oriented person who can express and stand by your convictions, while also having the humility to realize when you are wrong. It goes without saying that you are highly motivated by making Bankdata the best place for happy and productive developers.
