Duration: Flexible Start Date, end-January/ultimo February 2025, approx. 4-6 months duration
Role Overview
If you have a knack for creative and engaging communication, information- and innovation management, digital technologies and specialize in service design and creating new tools and communications products, we want you.
We are looking for a motivated, proactive, and independent intern with a strong drive to support the Innovation Lead in strengthening DRC’s innovation culture and practice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Internal communication: Improve how we share and celebrate innovation successes and learning across the organization, creating engaging content for digital and print platforms.
- Portfolio management: Help refine and manage procedures to document and track the progress of DRC innovation projects.
- Research and analysis: Conduct various research tasks, e.g., on innovation funding opportunities, analyse key trends impacting humanitarian work, and prepare actionable insights to support DRC’s Strategic Foresight work.
- Learning and development: Support the develop and update educational resources, guides, and learning products to foster innovative practices, including workshops and virtual sessions.
- Support the “Innovation Buddy”: Collaborate with colleagues in the digitalisation department to further develop and test our chatbot-based innovation assistant, enhancing its usability and impact.
- Information management: Refine procedures for capturing and disseminating insights from innovation initiatives using digital technologies.
We’ll work with you to tailor the role based on your key strengths and interests.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to get hands-on experience working with innovation in an international humanitarian organisation.
About the Danish Red Cross:

The Innovation Lead in the International Department promote and support efforts to keep DRC agile and relevant in rapidly changing contexts. We aim to strengthen our culture of innovation to better meet the evolving needs of the people we serve in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
Qualifications:
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Enrolled in a university or academy degree programme (required), preferably in innovation management, digital innovation, service design, communications, entrepreneur and intrapreneurship or related fields.
- Skilled with digital technologies (experience with SharePoint, Alchemer and ChatGPT chatbot development is a bonus).
- Skilled in graphic design and UX/UI, with the ability to create engaging visual materials.
- Independent, proactive, and thrives while working autonomously.
- Creative, detail-oriented, and an excellent problem solver.
- A strong communicator and organizer who works well in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English (French and Arabic skills are a plus).
- Programming skills (preferred but not required).
- Familiar with strategic foresight methodologies (preferred but not required).

Internship conditions:
The internship is unpaid, but lunch is provided. You’ll be based at the Danish Red Cross headquarters in Copenhagen, with access to a workspace, computer, and other office facilities.
The internship period is expected to be between 4-6 months with an expected start in January/Primo February.
