Role Overview
The Human Rights Specialist is a newly established role that will champion human rights across ABENA, driving compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct and fostering an ethical, people-centered culture throughout the value chain. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed human rights principles across all business areas, ensuring that our practices align with the highest standards and meet evolving regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Code of Conduct: Manage ABENA’s membership of amfori BSCi, develop the Supplier Code of Conduct, and be the main point of contact for customer requests related to human rights.
- Risk Management and Auditing: Manage human rights risks across the value and prepare and/or participate in relevant internal and external audits as needed.
- Regulatory Alignment & Compliance: Ensure compliance with current and forthcoming legislation (CSRD, CSDDD), staying ahead of regulatory trends and guiding the organization in meeting reporting and auditing requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across ABENA—including legal, sustainability, procurement, and compliance—to integrate human rights considerations into the value chain in line with our One ABENA approach.
- Monitoring, Reporting & Accountability: Establish measurable objectives for human rights performance, developing KPIs and reporting processes to track progress and communicate impact to stakeholders.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for human rights, educating and influencing internal and external stakeholders on ethical standards and best practices in alignment with UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Strategic Development: Develop and execute strategies to elevate human rights practices across our operations and supplier networks, advancing initiatives that protect human rights across the value chain.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Rights, Law, Ethics, International Relations, or related fields.
- 3+ years of experience in human rights, ethics, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility within a multinational environment.
- Expertise in human rights frameworks (e.g., UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights), and familiarity with CSRD and CSDDD compliance.
- Proven ability to develop and implement complex strategies in human rights or ethics, ideally with experience in supplier management.
- Strong stakeholder management, building trust and cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Proficiency in reporting, monitoring tools, and data analysis to support metrics-driven accountability.
- English is a must, Danish skills would be an advantage.
