Responsibilities and qualifications

We need a professor in Inorganic Chemistry to strengthen the department’s research and education in various aspects of inorganic chemistry, especially related to materials design and development as well as synthesis and reaction mechanisms. The professorship is a part of the section for Inorganic Chemistry and is expected to interact closely with the other faculty members, as well as faculty from other DTU departments and other universities.

You will play a key role in:

  • research and education in materials chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis for sustainable chemistry, using state-of-the-art tools and methodology of experimental and/or theoretical inorganic chemistry to understand complex chemical systems at the molecular level
  • applying the tools of inorganic chemistry to develop novel materials and reactions for more sustainable processes and products;
  • initiating, supervising, and communicating fundamental and applied research in the field of inorganic and sustainable chemistry;
  • conduct innovative research at the highest international level and establish an outstanding, externally funded research program

Your track record proves your ability to attract national and international funding, lead international research projects, and publish and disseminate research at a high international level. You are a dedicated and experienced teacher for whom the education of DTU’s students is a key responsibility. You are keen on the further development of the collaboration with national and international research institutes and industries through collaborative projects to strengthen and develop inorganic chemistry in Denmark.

You have gained international recognition within the research field. You are able to combine high- level research and publication activity with the exploitation of research results in interaction with industry.

We are among the internationally leading departments of chemistry within several topics under the main areas: physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and organic chemistry. We are responsible for research-based teaching at the BSc, MSc, and PhD level. We actively support career paths through talent management, and we have a culture of internal collaboration between scientists and scientific disciplines. The department has 180 employees, including 23 faculty members.

You are expected to take a leading role in teaching at the BEng, BSc, MSc and PhD levels.

DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development
  • Research impact and experience, funding track record and research vision
  • International impact and experience
  • Societal impact
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
  • Communication skills

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
