The Department of Computer Science at The Technical Faculty of IT and Design invites applications for one or more positions as assistant professor from June 15, 2025 or soon hereafter. The position is a fixed term position for 3 years. The place of work can either be at the Aalborg Campus or the Copenhagen Campus. It is therefore essential that you specify your preferred workplace in your application.

We are also inviting applicants in all areas of computer science to join one of the four research groups: Data Engineering, Science and Systems, Distributed, Embedded and Intelligent Systems, Human-Centered Computing, and Data, Knowledge and Web Engineering.

Your job responsibilities
As an assistant professor your primary tasks will be research and research-based teaching. You will teach and supervise students at bachelor's and master’s level, and you will contribute to the development of the department through research of international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with both Danish and international colleagues.
Your main tasks will consist of:
- Independent research of the highest international quality, including publication as well as contribution to research projects.
- Teaching, guidance and examination of bachelor's and master's degree students, as well as possible supervision of PhD students.
- Some degree of contribution towards attracting external research funding.
You will report to the Head of Department, Peter Axel Nielsen.
Your competences
You have independent research-related qualifications at international level and a PhD degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field. You are a clear communicator, and you have some degree of experience of supervision and teaching at bachelor’s and master's degree level. Completed pedagogical courses in supervision or similar will be a plus, but not a requirement, as will experience with external research collaborations. We also draw attention to a stay or employment at one or more internationally recognized research institutions.
As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be able to write and speak English at the academic level.

Your place of work will be the Department of Computer Science, either at the Aalborg Campus or the Copenhagen Campus.
Denmark builds on a welfare system and while taxes are high there are plenty of welfare services including free education and healthcare including pay during paternity/maternity leave and during sickness.
