Ambu A/S is currently looking for a Director, Medical Affairs, to join the global Marketing leadership team.

In this newly established role, you will be focused on centralising existing activities and developing further efforts within the function. You will define the direction and work together with key stakeholders across Marketing, R&D and Sales functions to identify key areas to further grow our progress within a.o. clinical training, KOL engagement, communication, clinical claims and evidence generation. Specifically, you will own the clinical evidence strategy, identifying clinical opinions and trends, in the business areas that Ambu operates in. Similarly, you will work with Business Areas and R&D to develop clinical evidence to substantiate our value propositions, drive the publication efforts, and develop our KOL engagement strategy and planning. Finally, you and your team will be responsible for internal and external clinical training curriculums.

As a leader, you will manage a team engaging in these efforts from the outset, which will likely expand over time as the team is build out. You will lead the team through an engaging leadership style to define the deliverables and ensure high performance. Further, you will engage with external stakeholders and will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to understand how your function can support the success of Ambu and our solutions, ensuring adequate capabilities and resource allocation to execute on the defined strategy.

Reporting into the Chief Marketing Officer, you will primarily be based out of our HQ In Ballerup, Denmark. We offer a hybrid work environment, and limited travel to key regions may be expected.

Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:

Clinical evidence generation:

  • Develop the overall commercial clinical evidence strategy for Ambu and set the direction for specific clinical evidence generation needs across the portfolio.
  • Stay updated on current overarching clinical evidence landscape and synthesize insights from most important studies, to support Business Areas in their strategy development and execution.
  • Define evidence generation needs with Business Areas and collaborate with R&D to develop clinical results through investigators or Ambu driven clinical studies.
  • Translate clinical data and results into relevant claims for the portfolio and build into internal and external clinical training curriculums, publications, white papers etc.
  • Ensure strong collaboration with external stakeholders and colleagues in R&D to leverage clinical insights to inform Ambu’s value propositions and positioning.

Clinical stakeholder engagement

  • Define strategy and plan for KOL engagement.
  • Be the key clinical interface towards customers, KOLs, industry associations, and clinical societies.
  • Build strong relations to external clinical stakeholders in collaboration with Business Areas and customer facing organization.
  • Monitor and influence clinical guidelines, position statements and other critical publications with clinical societies

Clinical training

  • Develop strategy key activities for clinical communication and training of external stakeholders.
  • Define and drive curriculum for clinical training and education for external stakeholders and customer facing teams, including Train-the-Trainer programs, and execute in collaboration with Business Area Teams.
  • Develop and conduct regular training for key Ambu colleagues.
  • Engage KOL’s and other external stakeholders in regular training sessions through e.g. webinars, in-person sessions etc.

Suggested candidate profile
Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you:

  • Extensive experience leading a Medical Affairs function in a Medical Device company.
  • Previous experience working with surgical devices, preferably within single use.
  • Ability to synthesize insights from clinical studies and translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills: Ability to ensure adequate resource allocation to succeed on defined strategy through own team and other functions.
  • Strong people management skills, with a proven ability to develop high performing teams across a range of specialisations.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant scientific field highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical stakeholders, and industry associations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting at conferences and symposia.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed, global organisation and drive results within this.
