Your role and responsibilities
In this role you will be part of the Ports business line within the Marine and Ports division at ABB Process Automation. We are specialized in advanced automation and information systems for all types of container and bulk cargo handling cranes, as well as OCR and electrical systems for container terminals. We offer an international and dynamic working environment where our business deliver advanced technology in large projects across the world in a customer oriented and highly globalized industry. This role reports to Technology Manager. Your department is responsible for development of crane automation standard software for ship to shore cranes and stacking cranes. The other technical area of responsibility is ABB Ports world leading container crane dynamic control which also includes the responsibility for drives SW for automated container cranes. The container crane dynamic control is a very important function in order to get the crane to operate according to our sensor systems perception. Moving into highly autonomous operation, dynamic crane control is even more important. The department has around 50% work in customer delivery projects, 50% R&D and product maintenance. Your responsibilities: • You will be a member in the Technology management team • Lead a department of 9 skilled automation SW engineers, control engineers and one team lead. • Your department develop, release and maintain crane automation SW standard. • Development of our world leading dynamic crane control. • Develop test and verification methods for our crane automation standard SW. • Keep developing the departments fantastic engineers in a direction that support ABB Ports long term strategy in your area. • You lead the department to a structured development process, requirements management, a secure software development lifecycle and a structured fault-finding process. • Manage and ensure department spending is in line with agreed budget.
Qualifications for the role
- Experience from team lead or line manager role is valuable.
- Experience from leading agile teams is beneficial, since all departments within R&D works in an agile process.
- Experience in SW development within automation area (PLC, embedded).
- Experience from customer projects organization is beneficial.
- Work with functional safety is valuable.
- Experience from control of automation systems are valuable.
- AC500 experience is valuable since our crane automation standard is in AC500 PLC.
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant field together with a few years of experience as a Software Developer
- Since you will work in a global company, you need to master English in both speech and writing, Swedish language skills are meriting
