We are looking for a passionate research engineer/senior research engineer for research and development within power hydraulics and fuel injection for our MAN B&W two-stroke engines. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team transforming new ideas into solid, well-documented design concepts used in our engineering departments. The position can be tailored to either a Research Engineer or a Senior Research Engineer, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
You’ll will play an important role, where you will:
- Participate in the ideation process and concept development, contributing with your analytical approach and ability to identify complex correlations.
- Create and maintain well-documented design concepts for hydraulic components or systems, including specifications, purchase drawings, and diagrams.
- Specify and oversee tests at our premises, suppliers, or licensees in Asia. Collect service experience and test results to create meaningful reports, presentations, and action plans.
- Communicate design concepts to suppliers, customers, and engineering departments. Coordinate the validation and approval of third-party hydraulic components.
- Lead and participate in task forces or projects for new developments and troubleshooting. Contribute to risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, or FMEA.
- Share technical expertise by mentoring or setting a good example.
- Clearly present complex subjects to various audiences, ensuring key points are effectively communicated.
- Work primarily in our head office in Copenhagen, however 10-30 travel days per year, typically in Europe or Asia, could occur.
We imagine that you have:
- Industry experience in the development of fluid systems, including stakeholder management and technical documentation.
- Basic skills within root cause analysis, mitigation planning, and risk analysis methodologies, e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, and FMEA.
- Experience in the development of hydraulic components/systems or general development for the marine business. Experience in leading smaller projects will be an advantage.
- Eagerness to learn and grow as an expert, enjoying collaboration and sharing ideas with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to see broader perspectives while maintaining attention to detail, understanding the relevance of tasks in the context of the organization and final product.
- Skills in clear and concise technical writing, ability to identify and describe key points accurately. Proficiency in creating process and hydraulic diagrams using dedicated software will be an advantage.
- Strong networking skills are able to confidently present work to various audiences and effectively advocate in meetings.
- M.Sc./Ph.D. degree in engineering or a B.Sc. with equivalent specialist skills from experience in engineering.
Welcome to Hydraulics and Fuel Injection Concepts You will join the Hydraulics and Fuel Injection Concepts department within the functional area Hydraulics and Injection Development of two-stroke R&D. We are responsible for developing fuel injection concepts and design prototypes for fuel equipment, hydraulic components, and systems. Together with our closest colleagues, we analyze structural and thermal loads on our components, we run simulations of both injection and combustion and conduct tests on both test rigs and real engines to validate new concepts and designs.
