We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for lifting equipment, such as Offshore Pedestal Cranes , overhead cranes and pull-in winches.
About the position
This Principal Mechanical Engineer will serve as a package responsible engineer for lifting equipment in our major Oil & Gas ,Offshore Wind and Renewables projects. Package Responsible Engineer for the procurement of various Lifting and Material Handling Equipment packages include Offshore/Onshore Cranes, Overhead Cranes, Winches, and Off-loading systems.
Responsibilities and tasks include
- Participate in material handling studies in collaboration with the layout discipline
- Conduct design studies, technology qualification, selection, and assessments for material handling equipment
- Prepare and distribute equipment specifications and datasheets. Carry out technical evaluations of quotations received from suppliers
- Serve as the technical point of contact with suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines
- Conduct inspections and testing at the supplier’s workshop and ensure the timely delivery of equipment and documentation
- Oversee the installation of equipment and conduct testing at the yard/offshore. Evaluate and respond to technical queries
- Review and approve supplier documentation and contribute to technical data registers
- Ensure the supplier’s scope of work complies with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards
Qualifications
- Higher education (BSc or Msc), long relevant experience may competence for lack of formal education
- Minimum 10 years relevant working experience in design/delivery of lifting equipment
- Experienced with multidisciplinary engineering in Crane Suppliers or EPC Contractors
- Familiar with relevant local international codes and standards such as NORSOK, EN, Norwegian acts and regulations
- Proficiency with 3D CAD softwares
Personal qualities
- Fluent in written and oral English, Norwegian is an advantage
- Cooperative working attitude and acceptance for multicultural team environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
