Hire Controller

We are looking for a fast learner with a high attention to details to become part of our Control team maintaining timely invoicing processes and voyage controlling. As our new Hire Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate payments, and you will get to collaborate closely both with your direct colleagues and with a variety of different commercial stakeholders.

Become part of a team promoting structure and precision
You will report to a Control Lead and be part of a team of 14. Alongside your colleagues and your manager, you will work on a wide span of tasks including generation of invoices, quality assurance, documentation, reconciliations and compliance monitoring. The purpose of the team is to serve as a close link between commercial teams, Business Finance and the departments responsible for disputes and billing to address payment discrepancies and resolve related issues.

Engaging in a cross-functional collaboration is essential and your tasks will be closely related to the work of our vessel operators, as you will handle all payments to owners and invoicing to charterers relating to the contracts. Thus, to succeed in the role as Hire Controller, it is of utmost importance that you find it attractive to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders hereunder strategic headowners and operators. Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders will require that you practice a best-in-class service.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Approval of invoices.
• Processing invoices from our counterparts and issuing hires for payment to our counterparts.
• Invoicing our clients for hires for the period they are chartering our vessels.
• Controlling and closing voyages making sure that all entries have been posted and without variances in our P&L.
• Stakeholder management on all levels. Internally you will especially be in contact with Operations, Financial Controlling, Accounting and the Chartering department and externally it concerns Agents, Brokers, and Owners.

Your competencies and qualifications
We promise that your learning curve will be steep. In return we expect you to show business acumen, strong communication skills and an analytical approach to your tasks.

Ideally you have experience with invoicing processes from previous jobs or an educational background within maritime studies, finance, or business administration. However, the most important element to succeed in this position is your mindset. Thus, we are looking for a colleague with an unwavering integrity and a curious mindset finding joy in efficient workflows.

We are both open to applicants who have little practical experience and candidates with more experience. Most important is that you bring an innovative and proactive approach to your daily work tasks.
