Research Analyst – Container Shipping
MB Shipbrokers
Are you interested in the world of shipping and international trade?
Would you like to work with the latest maritime trends and help our clients make better decisions?
Does being part of a team working at raising the bar whilst having fun, sound like you?
We are looking for a Research Analyst with an analytical mind. If you have an interest in macroeconomics, shipping and are a team player join our team as we continue our quest to deliver market-leading insights to our clients around the world.
We offer:
With MB Shipbrokers, you become part of a global shipbroking company with over a century of experience, a worldwide presence, and an unrivalled dedication to customers. In addition, you will become part of our broader research and advisory team consisting of experienced shipping professionals specialised in finance, statistics, data modelling, energy transition and trade. Despite the busy nature of shipping and being an international 24/7 business, we know that our employees have a life outside of work and promote a healthy work-life balance.
Our office in Copenhagen is close to Østerport station, the city, and the sea. We have our own canteen serving freshly made food every day, Wednesday workouts, changing facilities and occasional social events.
Key responsibilities:
As Research Analyst, you join the team responsible for our research into the container market. Simply put, through the best analyses, reports, and presentations in the business, you help develop our relationships with our clients and their understanding of a complex market.
More specifically, you will be involved in:
· maintaining and developing our supply and demand forecast models
· mapping major demand drivers within container shipping
· preparing regular weekly, monthly and quarterly market reports, and forecasts
· writing and further developing our market reports portfolio
· developing client and topic specific studies and presentations
· sharing market insights with our organisation and clients
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a committed and independent colleague who is highly organised and structured. You have a growth mindset and look forward to, together with our team, developing the depth and breadth of our research products– both what we do, and how we deliver it. Moreover, we imagine that you:
· have 1-3 years of experience preferably within shipping, economics or finance
· are familiar with forecast modelling, data collection and analysis
· either hold a degree in macroeconomics, international trade, finance and/or are an experienced shipping professional
· are a good communicator both in writing and in person
· have a high proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with VBA, SQL and PowerBi is a plus, but not a must.
· are fluent in spoken and written English
You will thrive in this role because you have a natural ability to combine numbers and detailed market knowledge into clear market analyses that you communicate effectively to both internal and external audiences. We value diverse perspectives and encourage innovation in how we deliver insights.
At MB Shipbrokers, we believe that diverse teams drive better outcomes. We strongly encourage applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, background, or identity.
