This role is based in Denmark or Bangalore, India but we are open to hiring in other global office hubs.
The position
As the Head of Platform Storage & Compute, you will oversee the development and management of cutting-edge storage and compute technologies. You will lead a global team in delivering effi-cient, secure, and scalable solutions aligned with Novo Nordisk’s data and AI platform goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a global team of engineers, fostering collaboration and driving innovation.
- Develop and implement the tech stack for storage and compute, ensuring alignment with the platform roadmap and business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in storage and compute capabilities, utilizing technologies such as Delta Lake, Kubernetes, and Databricks.
- Ensure compliance with global pharmaceutical regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, GDPR, HIPAA) while embedding robust security and privacy measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver tai-lored, scalable solutions.
- Optimize infrastructure costs while maintaining high performance and availability stand-ards.
- Foster team development, recruitment, and leadership, maintaining an inspiring and psy-chologically safe work environment
Qualifications
To succeed in the role, we imagine you meet most of the following:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engi-neering, or related disciplines. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Extensive experience (5-10+ years) in data engineering, platform management, or related roles, with at least 3 years in leadership positions ideally within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Good understanding both Azure and AWS cloud providers architecture patterns, security models, network configuration, supported by relevant technical certifications.
- Solid experience in using Git Hub platform for CI / CD in enterprise-wide projects.
- Knowledge of relevant storage technologies compatible with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Amazon S3, and Blob Storage.
- Understanding of compute technologies on Databricks, including Apache Spark, Delta Engine, MLflow, Photon, Databricks Runtime, Databricks SQL, Databricks Jobs, Databricks Connect, and AutoML.
- Familiar with ML Ops and AI Ops tools and platforms to manage AI development and de-ployment processes.
- Relevant certification in cloud engineering, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar.
- Experience of pharmaceutical data ecosystems and regulatory requirements such as FDA CFR Part 11, GxP, GDPR, and HIPAA is an advantage.

The Global Data & AI Platform Engineering department at Novo Nordisk is a newly established and strategically integral team dedicated to building and enabling the Novo Nordisk Global Data & AI platform. This platform is designed to serve and scale all data, AI, and analytics use cases across the organization. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and fostering collaboration across multiple disciplines, the department drives the development, governance, and optimiza-tion of scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that align with Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceutical R&D, clinical, production, and commercial priorities.
