Head of Business Tax, Group Tax

We are looking for a new leader for our Business Tax Team in Group Tax in Danske Bank. Group Tax is a growing team of currently 23 specialists working with corporate tax, transfer pricing, VAT, operational business taxes, HR taxes etc. and is represented in the four Nordic countries, the UK and Lithuania.

Who we are
The Business Tax Team currently consists of four people (and one open headcount) located in Denmark supported by colleagues in Sweden, Norway and Finland; servicing Danske Bank Group including our Nordic branches, Realkredit Danmark, Danica Pension and Nordania Leasing on operational taxes, products, tax reporting to authorities & HR taxes as in-house advisors.

You will be located physically in Copenhagen together with the rest of the 12 specialists in the Group Tax team in Copenhagen, where we recently moved into our brand new head office premises at Postgrunden nearby the Copenhagen Central Station. We typically work three days from office every week and two days from home.

The tone in Group Tax is informal and reflects the commitment as a team to work closely together and to assist, support and guide the business in tax matters. We hold good relations, humour and respect for each other’s personalities and competences high.

As Head of Business Tax you will be leading a team of five Tax SMEs and will reporting directly to Head of Group Tax in Danske Bank.

What you will do
The Business Tax Team has stakeholders throughout the bank – meaning that you will have to engage with a large amount of stakeholders in various areas of the bank and in a wide range of different projects.

Together with the rest of the leadership team in Group Tax you will assist to increase Group Tax´s goal to become even more pro-active and interactive in the organization in order to continuously gain deeper understanding of the various business areas in Danske Bank Group – as well as to ensure that Business Tax team provides high quality tax advice to our stakeholders.

Amongst some of the key goals that can be mentioned:

• Be a great leader for the Business Tax team and a strong, pro-active co-leader in Group Tax.
• Perform Tax Risk assessments, suggest possible mitigation acts and report any identified tax compliance risks
• Support Danske Bank Group on ensuring a compliant framework for monitoring relevant new tax legislation
• To perform effectiveness analysis of issued Tax Instructions by Group Tax i.e. analysis of how tax instructions are implemented in the organisation and/or how to improve implementation
• Improve and streamline existing Product Tax Approval Governance process in the Bank
• Responsible for facilitation of inhouse tax training and tax knowledge sharing in the organisation within Business Tax area(s)
• Readiness for analysis of how implementation of technology can ensure more efficient processes (also) in Group Tax
• Identify risks as well as opportunities and assist Danske Bank business units and functions on tax risk analysis & assessment

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an amazing person that is clever, has great humour, good with people, who is honest and openminded and not least; who is curious and ready to not only focus on tax legislation but also to understand the operational processes underneath.

The role is to a certain degree to act as a “playing manager” why a tax-legal foundation and/or tax experience from the financial sector will be a big plus.

Apart from your personal and professional qualities; you are fluent in English (both in writing and verbally) and thrive in a fast paced and international environment and is not afraid to take ownership and to drive and solve tasks.
