The Test and Verification department at Vestas Wind Systems A/S is key to verifying new prototype components and systems. Our facility is a world leader in testing turbine main components, featuring 10 test rigs capable of evaluating components or systems up to 20MW. To optimize testing, we simulate field conditions in our test center, exposing components to functional, performance, and reliability testing.
Our team consists of 30 engineers and turbine technicians who prioritize team development. By joining us, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in various tasks, projects, and assignments that will test your skills daily; you will experience a diverse range of activities. The team is responsible for planning, carrying out, verifying, and troubleshooting generator, converter, and gearbox test activities. Additionally, you will play an important role in designing test rigs and prototype components, contributing to requirement specifications, test procedures, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Establish and develop test equipment within Power Conversion with a particular focus on mechanical systems
- Specify, evaluate and analyze equipment for mechanical testing
- Understanding interfaces to supporting systems (automation, foundation, electrical systems, measurement systems)
- Work closely with project management, design teams and internal specialists to ensure the right balance between quality, cost and time
- Activities related to installation, commissioning and conducting tests on Gearboxes and their sub-components
- Planning & preparing of tests in co-operation with Project managers and designers
Qualifications
- You must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Broad experience with mechanical components (such as couplings, bolted joints, welding, hydraulics, cooling, and lubrication)
- Thorough understanding of kinematics and dynamic systems
- Experience with simulation (stress, dynamics)
- Familiar with the Machinery Directive
- Experience with structured root cause analysis (six sigma or similar)
Competencies
- Good technical background, customer focus and a global mindset
- Understand calibration and associated requirements for verification
- A well-developed skill set for overseeing tasks and initiatives, along with a focus on maintaining high standards
- Is recommended to possess an interest from design development to verification
- Willingness to motivate new initiatives such as digitalization
- Highly motivated, willing to consider different perspectives, and an effective communicator, you thrive in team settings and have a capability to work collaboratively
- Experiences in creating reports, technical presentations and reviewing technical documents
