Quantum Processor Unit Integration Lead

Novo Nordisk Fonden

Quantum Processor Unit Integration Lead

Description
Join us in building the next generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing – We are seeking a Quantum Processor Unit Integration Lead to be part of our growing team.

Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation Quantum Computing Processor technologies.

Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale.

About us
Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The NQCP programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.

In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.

Join our team
We are seeking a Quantum Integration Lead at principal level with broad understanding of quantum processor technologies to lead a team that designs, simulates, and coordinates the development of advanced quantum processor solutions for large-scale, error-corrected quantum computing.

You will report directly to our CEO and be the daily leader for a team of QPU experts with complementary deep domain-specific expertise.

Your team will architect next-generation scalable quantum processors based on the innovative manufacturing capabilities at the Quantum Foundry. These processors will integrate photonic, superconducting, semiconducting, and hybrid qubit technologies, enabling the NQCP and other quantum computing efforts to advance quantum computing applications in material- and life sciences.

The tasks of the QPU Integration Lead will include:

  • Co-developing and executing strategic roadmap for QPU R&D.
  • Assessing potential and feasibility of different QPU platforms based on algorithmic resource estimations.
  • Overseeing and aligning project management across multiple teams.
  • Leading the design, simulation, and optimization of full stack QC.
  • Coordinating and leading interdisciplinary projects to ensure successful integration.

Professional and Personal Qualifications
Your qualifications and experience include:

  • Extensive experience with quantum computing R&D. Preferably from both industry and academia.
  • Familiarity with superconducting, semiconducting and photonic qubits or other qubit modalities.
  • Hands-on experience with quantum control, cryogenics and characterization.
  • Experience with leading chip fabrication techniques, preferably including flip-chip bonded chip architectures.
  • Proficiency in hardware simulations (e.g. FEM, DFT) and preferably quantum programming languages.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum-classical hybrid computing schemes.
  • Experience leading research teams in academia, industry, or national labs.
  • Ability to mentor researchers and collaborate across disciplines.

You are an accomplished leader in the field and want to work at the cutting edge of quantum technology. As a leader you foster productive and positive working environments where people thrive and fulfilling careers are made. Your colleagues would describe you as strategic, inspirational and curious.

You are motivated by working closely with your colleagues on the journey towards making Quantum Foundry Copenhagen one of the leading quantum foundries in the world.

We offer
We strive to be a world leading foundry and offer competitive salaries along with the many benefits of living in Copenhagen – one of the most liveable cities in the world. Benefits also include generous vacation time, health insurance, a pension scheme, and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.
