Head of Indirect Procurement & Capex Job Details | Ambu

As a Head of Indirect Procurement and Capex in Global Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in transforming and optimizing Ambu’s indirect & capex sustainable procurement strategy. Leading an expanding team, you will drive value and efficiency across our global sites, including Germany, the USA, Mexico, China and Malaysia. Your expertise will help shape the future of procurement excellence at Ambu. You will partner with all levels of leadership cross-functionally to build impactful, efficient, and cost-effective business and supplier relationships.

You will report directly to Vice President of Global Procurement, and be located at Ambu HQ in Ballerup, Denmark.

Key responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:

• Lead, develop, and implement category and supplier management strategies to maximize value creation, while fostering strong relationships with key suppliers and global stakeholders.
• Lead and inspire a high-performing team of category leads, driving sustainable procurement initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and conduct high-stakes negotiations, ensuring effective contract implementation and performance monitoring.
• Analyze categories, spend patterns, supply markets, and cost drivers to identify improvement opportunities and synergies across sites.
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks within procurement processes to ensure business continuity and resilience.

Suggested candidate profile
Skills and experiences can be earned in many different ways, and we understand that the best fit for the role cannot be prescribed on paper. You are however likely to succeed in this position if you possess/are:

• 5-10 years of Indirect Procurement experience with a proven track record of strategy development and execution, supported by a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Finance, or other relevant field.
• Extensive knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles, best practices, and proficiency with procurement systems (P2P, Spend Analysis, eSourcing & eAuctions, Contract Lifecycle Management).
• Strong leadership and international experience working with cross-functional teams, promoting ethical sourcing, reducing carbon footprints, and ensuring supply chain transparency.
• Ability to leverage data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities, optimize procurement strategies, and understand digitalization trends to enhance efficiency and visibility.
• Strong collaborator and communicator with proven experience cultivating relationships across all levels of the organization, driving agendas, influencing large groups, and executing tasks effectively.
