Job Description:
We are looking for skilled Kubernetes Platform Engineers to lead client engagements, continuous improve the on-prem Kubernetes Platforms of our clients, deliver on Kubernetes projects and contribute to tenders.
As a senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer you will work as a hands-on Kubernetes architect and -Engineer that technically and commercially can lead a client engagement and implement the solutions agreed with the client.
In the role as client lead, you will be responsible for leading the clients in getting the most out of the Kubernetes Platforms we are operating for the clients, and be the “travel guide” on the clients continuous journey towards onboarding more business applications and DevOps cloud-native tools to the Platform.
You will work closely with the clients’ application development teams, other NNIT Kubernetes architects and our Platform Operations team ensuring optimal performance, scalability and reliability of the Platform and the Kubernetes platform continuously develop with the needs of the clients.
As a customer-facing Kubernetes platform engineer, you will lead engagements end-to-end: from understanding requirements and architecting solutions, to hands-on implementation and ongoing maintenance.
Responsibilities / what you’ll do:
- Establish yourself as the trusted advisor for the clients assigned to you.
- Act as a product owner of the customer platform by consulting the client.
- Lead customer engagements, serving as the primary technical contact for Kubernetes platform initiatives.
- Design, deploy, and maintain highly available and secure on-prem Kubernetes clusters.
- Collaborate with customer teams to define best practices for cluster lifecycle management, observability, networking, and security.
- Provide Cloud-native tools and workflows that empower developers.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure platform reliability and performance.
- Stay current with CNCF ecosystem developments and bring innovative solutions to customers.
Requirements / we’re looking for:
- Candidates with a developer mindset.
- Proven experience operating and engineering on-premises Kubernetes platforms (e.g., bare metal, VMware, OpenStack).
- Strong background in Linux systems administration and networking.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Helm, GitOps).
- GitOps approach to all changes you do (configuration as code, version managed and automated deployments).
- Proven experience in declarative approaches and automation using tools like e.g. Jsonnet, ArgoCD, Terraform and ansible.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Solid understanding of container security, RBAC, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead customer engagements and present technical solutions clearly.
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with OpenShift or Rancher.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role, in a cloud-native focused environment.
- Proven experience in ITIL service processes.
- Kubernetes certification (Certified Kubernetes Administrator - CKA).
- Knowledge of security best practices for Kubernetes and deployments(CD).
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Datatekniker specialized in infrastructure or related education.
