Genmab’s Global Finance team is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to lead VAT compliance activities. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate VAT reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving process improvements across jurisdictions. You will work within a dynamic team of finance professionals and collaborate cross-functionally to support business operations.

Responsibilities

  • VAT Compliance: Ensure compliance with VAT regulations across multiple jurisdictions. Monitor legislative changes and advise on implications. Identify gaps and work collaboratively to continuously improve and scale the E2E process to support Genmab’s continued commercial growth and expansion.
  • VAT Reporting: Prepare and submit timely VAT returns, EU sales, and intrastate reports in coordination with external providers.
  • VAT Accounting: Oversee monthly accruals and corrections, VAT related accounts offsets, import taxes and duties and specific VAT adjustments. Perform and review monthly close journal entries and account reconciliations and analyses, ensuring accuracy and completeness and SOX internal control compliance.
  • Team Leadership & Support: Manage and coach a team of VAT and accounting professionals by providing guidance, reviewing and approving their work, and coordinating support for VAT-related projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Business partner and enhance ways of working with Finance, IT, Legal, Supply Chain, and Clinical Operations to provide VAT guidance and support. Coordinate closely with the Indirect Tax function and other cross functional stakeholders/process owners to continuously identify and implement improvement opportunities that enhance VAT compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Internal Controls & Documentation: Develop and maintain SOPs and internal VAT related controls and operating effectiveness. Ensure organized record-keeping of VAT transactions for audit and SOX readiness.
  • Audit Support: Liaise with internal and external auditors during VAT audits, providing necessary documentation and insights, and remediating improvement areas.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Lead cross functional process change management and ERP enhancements to optimize VAT logic and automate reconciliations. Support implementation of indirect tax platforms.
  • VAT Governance: Maintain and enhance VAT policies, procedures, and documentation for existing and new processes and internal control changes.
  • Additional responsibilities may be required to support business needs/priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA, CA, or MBA preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in public and multinational accounting, with strong EU VAT expertise (including Danish VAT)
  • Proven experience managing tax authority interactions and audits
  • ERP experience (e.g., SAP FI/CO, Tax Engines) preferred
  • Prior team leadership and coaching & talent development experience
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
  • Fluent in English; Danish is a plus
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and driving cross-functional initiatives
  • Executive presence and ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
