Chief Mainframe Platform Engineer

We are a global team responsible for building, configuring and maintaining Danske Bank’s mainframe infrastructure. We operate the largest parallel SysPlex in the Nordic region. Our key design objectives focus on ensuring service availability, operational efficiency, and robustness, all supported by the principle of duplicated infrastructure, system configurations, and applications

We are looking for a Senior / Chief Platform Engineer, a technical individual contributor role in the Mainframe Engineering team within the Mainframe Services division of Danske Bank. You will be part of a Global team responsible for building, configuring and maintaining the Bank’s mainframe systems. Our primary design goals are service availability, efficiency and resilience, underpinned by the architectural principle of cloned infrastructure, system configurations and applications.

The position is in Denmark and is available in both Aarhus and Copenhagen.

The Role
As a Mainframe Platform Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert, developing and maintaining our mainframe infrastructure solutions and definitions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and developing a multi-site mainframe configuration, operations and high availability / disaster recovery solution, while adopting the industry’s best practices and modern technologies.
• Continuous effort to maintain a cost-effective mainframe platform with an objective to deliver continuous availability of infrastructure services.
• Support the Mainframe Infrastructure and Middleware teams to create a strategy for maintenance and modernization defining priorities and dependencies.
• Work with the Mainframe Services management team to influence and shape the strategic infrastructure target state.
• Help define and implement infrastructure standards and influence and educate other Mainframe Service engineers on standards, processes, tools and DR strategy
• Research and recommend specific tools and product suits to achieve productivity and make mainframe more consumable
• Enforce automation at all levels.
• Ensure high level of security.

We would value you having the following skills:

• Strong experience in installation, customization, maintenance and support of large IBM z/OS mainframe operating system and its associated components
• Configuration and maintenance of a multi-system IBM mainframe Parallel SysPlex environment
• Knowledge of multi-OS configuration (zOS, zVM, zLinux)
• Strong Infrastructure understanding of core zOS, middleware components, and interoperability.
• Extensive experience in High Availability DR deployment strategies
• Self-motivation and commitment to continuous innovation
• Strong Analytical skills and ability to diagnose and resolve mainframe problems
• Ability to plan, schedule and manage all assigned tasks and projects
• Good communications skills both written and verbal
• Strong documentation skills
