Program Manager, Sustainability

In the VELUX Group, 98% of our carbon footprint relates to scope 3 emissions and comes from outside our own operations, the majority from the materials used in our products. VELUX follows the most ambitious objective, setting to achieve 50% carbon footprint reduction by 2030, which is even beyond the 1.5 ºC pathway. To reach our targets of reducing CO2e from our value chain, we have identified and are working with several decarbonization levers, such as Long-term partnership agreements with key suppliers, Carbon reductions targeting a broader range of suppliers with focused projects, Optimization and material reduction of existing products and materials, Innovation roadmaps towards the design of new product platforms, and Optimizing our logistics set-up to decrease the footprint.

Your challenges
As our new Program Manager, you will report into Anna Nesterova (Director, Head of Procurement Excellence) and be located at our location in Hørsholm or Østbirk. You will join a group of experienced and committed colleagues – in a setting where knowledge is shared, and responsibility is given to those who can and will. In your role as Program Manager, your main focus to ensure that activities within decarbonization in Upstream (procurement and logistics) are well aligned into the overall program and coordinate the execution of the underlaying projects. In collaboration with three other program managers (two in Denmark and one in US), you will also be responsible for defining needed tools, processes and support materials to drive carbon out efficiently.

In addition, you will be handling multiple tasks, such as:

• Support and coordinate set of projects within direct procurement, including projects related to supply chain relocation, qualification of new low-carbon materials, co-investments with suppliers into green technology etc.
• Deploy policies and requirements to suppliers within decarbonization by anchoring it into relevant processes and defining methods for ensuring amendment to guidelines
• Guide our analytics team in the direction for further data maturity of carbon footprint data. As part of this, you will manage the project related to data models enhancement.
• Together with the management team, you will structure and scope the program for decarbonization, including defining objectives, deadlines and milestones.
• Define the needed enablers, training and communication materials, supporting tools and materials to ensure efficient work within decarbonization.
• Drive communication towards material category teams and management team regarding the program.

Your qualifications
It is essential and required that you

• bring proven program management skills, and a minimum 5 years of program management experience where you have handled programs on your own, including coordinating large cross functional teams, steering committee meetings, project plans, budgets, risk management etc.
• bring former experience with decarbonization or sustainability programs/projects.
• are able and motivated by working on your own initiative with your project, and that you do not let obstacles and push back bring you down.

• bring a degree on Bachelor’s or Master’s level, for example within Engineering, Business, Sustainability.
• have a natural ability to build up a network and manage your key stakeholders professionally in a complex, international matrix organization.

• possess great interpersonal and communication skills. Possess advanced written and verbal English language skills.

You should expect approximately 15-25 days of travelling per year within Denmark and Europe.

To capture our historical emissions, we have partnered with WWF. Through the partnership with WWF, VELUX finances forest protection and restoration projects that capture the equivalent of our historical emissions from operations since 1941 and up until 2041. The verified carbon units generated by the forest projects are retired and donated as a contribution to the host countries’ national climate target under the Paris agreement.
