Environment and Consents Specialist

Ørsted

Join us in this role where you’ll be responsible for supporting the onshore consents working on an offshore wind farm project during the construction phase. Our team sits within the Environment & Consent UK department which focuses on activities relating to Project Construction, including working with Development Consent Orders (DCO) and the Town and Country Planning Act, providing consent information to manage and mitigate consent risk in the construction of the project. You'll manage any necessary surveys, compliance of environmental monitoring and mitigation requirements and commitments through the management of audits.

Welcome to Environment and Consents
You’ll be part of the Hornsea Four consent team where you, together with your colleagues, will work with the Project to deliver consents compliance to support our UK portfolio of renewable energy projects. The role will involve responsibility for the discharging of conditions and commitments relating Hornsea Project Four onshore cable route and substation.

As a team, we have plenty of opportunities to learn and develop through challenging assignments and industry-leading experts.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • regular on-site presence during works in addition to audits of preconstruction conditions and commitments as part of the ongoing construction works at Hornsea Project Four
  • ensuring collaboration and communication between contractors and technical leads based on site pertaining to the management of compliance of consents requirements
  • managing the onshore survey and monitoring strategies and scopes of work, as agreed with statutory consultees and regulators
  • supporting the lead environment manager in obtaining new Town and Country planning consent, as required
  • supporting the lead environment manager in obtaining new Town and Country planning consent, as required
  • representing Hornsea Project Four with key external stakeholders, incl. regulatory bodies.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a background in delivering onshore consents or permissions, with any experience with utilities or equivalent industries being an advantage, including understanding of the UK-wide relevant planning, licensing, and consenting regimes
  • have a bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, with a specialism in a particular field, for example town planning, that can be applied in the context of this role
  • thrive in an international environment and can speak and write English fluently
  • can effectively communicate with a wide group of stakeholders, build good relationships, and explain technically complex issues in a clear manner
  • can deliver on time and to budget whilst managing the potentially competing demands of project priorities and stakeholder advice.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
