Operator Asset Care
Operator Asset Care is about the involvement and enhancement of people who are using the equipment. It is about developing and/or building on a culture of pride and ownership in the operators, through developing their asset care skills. It has a definite role to play in sharing the responsibility for the condition and performance of machinery and equipment and by improving machinery condition, which will have the effect of considerably reducing the number of breakdowns and stoppages
Main tasks include … Inspection and cleaning, Communication of defects and deterioration, Minor corrective and replacement activities, Simple troubleshooting, Agreement on targets, expected results and how to measure them. Lubrication, Preventive maintenance activities, Set-ups and changeovers, Problem-solving and continuous improvement. Ensure black-bird data is updated and work with team and engineering to improve uptime and reduce downtim
DUTIES & RESPONABILITIES
Unit Performance
- Maintain the day to day running of the assets in your area of responsibility, including problem solving and continuous improvement of all process and presenting the plant at its best for audit inspections.
- 90% the working hours are normally to be used on the machines.
- From Engineering perspective, you are in collaboration with the Team Leader responsible for the department's KPI’s and execute on this (Your KPIs will be agreed and documented with the Team Leader about the department's objective for the KPIs).
- Based on the department's KPIs, you make continuous adjustments of equipment for optimal performance.
- Based on PMs retrieved in Pirana (Engineering system), you carry out ongoing equipment maintenance.
- Collaboration with the other machine minders on the actions carried out on PMs.
- If spare parts from the stores are used, they must be scanned and re-ordered.
- Be proactive and prevent risks of engineering problems in production in collaboration with the operators and team leader.
- Monitor machine output on the shift to and ensure process meets specificOEE
targets. - Call for assistance from the engineering department and informing team leader about this.
- You act as a liaison between the production and the engineering department and contact the engineering department for tasks that extend beyond your competencies.
- Update and regularly check in with the Pirana system for work orders assigned to you and your assets.
- As machine minder you are also jointly responsible of the stop time registration in Black-Bird and should account of technical / Engineering stops.
- Ensure that equipment productivity (as measured by efficiency) is maximised through the continuous monitoring and trending of improvements and equipment availability (downtime reduction & increased uptime).
- Carry out yield performance tests. Report on test results in Excel, Work and/or PowerPoint.
- Be present in your Unit during service or inspection visit on external service people to deepen the knowledge of the machines in the area.
- Machine minders are to have a phone handed out by the company available during working hours.
- The substitute of a machine minder or other machine minders in the department. Holiday management, and assist with larger workloads in other departments.
- To evaluate and create the procedures required to operate the equipment using the lean work instruction template.
Unit Quality
- Implement company GMP policies to maintain standards, ensure quality of product is maintained above required levels
- Follow Hygiene Rules “Clean as you go” principle in the production: Production facilities should be clean and tidy.
- Secure the prevention of foreign objects from equipment in products by handling tools according to correct procedure and keep tool trolley records up to date.

REQUIRMENTS
Experience :
- Experience in the asset care and autonomous maintenance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal Skills.
- Ability to apply lean principles in practical application.
Education:
- Leaving cert
- Computer Literate Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel

- Black-Bird data updated minimum hourly.
- Reporting all downtime data accurately and be able to recognise and correct errors.
- Work with engineering team to meet downtime target set for each asset.
- Training plan to be adhered to – achieve target as per training plan objectives
- Meet or exceed preventive maintenance, operator asset care targets for your assets
- All compliances associated with Quality, GMP, H&S, Employee wellbeing, food safety and environmental are adhered to and targets set by your direct manager are achieved or exceeded
- Pirana (CMMS) open jobs, assigned work orders and backlog understood and controls in place
- Specific KPIs related to each individual process
